the only thing I can think of is some sort of electrostatic partical attraction device like they used to ues on chimneys. no doubt the boffins are hard at work but I suspect the accountants will have the ultimate say.

Yes good idea, must remember to take it out and give it a good wash under the tap and flush it down the sink!

Thanks panic over. I was right in my thinking, the cooling fan circuit doesnt connect to the selector switch it feeds directly from the mains terminal block.
turns out the blower motor was seizing. I always ask the customer at the start is there any other problems besides the one you called me for? It’s only after you carry out a repair that they take any notice, this fan must have been sluggish for weeks.

    thanks again wilf

Yes it might sound daft but are you sure the belt is on right with it running with the BACK of the belt against the pulley.

advising on what to buy is a minefield, on your head be it. just remember if it fails to live up to expectation or go wrong you were the one who said go for it

soap residue on laundry is generally too much soap or overloading with laundry. As for mould its unsightly but not over troublesome if the seal is clean on the surface. I’ve seen lots of ideas bleach, milton fluid, vinegar, brick acid, etc, etc, but if the customer is worried ……..new seal. I did read some time back about someone coming up with an anti microbial rubber what became of this I dont know. Other than that start with new clean seal boil wash regularly and keep dry after use.

special pliers help or you can improvise by making a hook out of thick steel wire like a very small butchers hook and use long nosed pliers. I have an old pair with indents ground near the end to stop slippage. failing this it is possible, with lots of lubricant, to slide the band over the boot with the spring intact.

    good luck wilf

I had a similar problem once, it was the plastic sleeve that linked the selector switch to the oven stat. didnt see it first call. its worth having a look.
