    Re: Bosch Dishwasher sgs46e22gb/82 won’t restart after wash

    I’d be checking the pump of it stopped working when you tried to reset it

    Be very careful when removing and fitting the motor as the metal edges of the machine are very sharp

    Possible that the motor brushes require changing

    Generally by the date of manufacture and the factory code.

    If it has the feature to be timed then the manufacturer is at fault because they have produced it to be able to be left on but it has failed

    There is nothing on the database about the FDW Dishwashers but I found one on the Hotpoint Quadrio Fridge Freezers

    Re: Bosch Dishwasher Recall

    I may sound thick on this as I am not great at all this maths and have no calculator to hand … But, running a 2kw heater at 240v instead of 220v you’ll get an increase in resistance of 19{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} as is said above, however, taking into consideration that a lot of people run their dishwashers during the night for the cheaper rate electric, and at night voltage can rise most commonly to 247v (26{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}) notwithstanding this, in some cases to as high as 253v 32{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} higher resistance than the board is set for…

    Nevertheless, this should not cause fires unless the wrong board plastics have been used… The board should blow far before the heat caused by the over-powering is able to cause a fire.

    Re: Appliance Fires

    Well that is certainly the case here in Wales. With all electrical appliances we must by law supply a guarantee of a minimum length of 7 days

    I think you have missed the point here George? Scenario = Bosch subject to recall but Bosch won’t call due to not having Postcode listed on their system and nothing to do with registration. Computer says don’t know where you are!

    Ahh, as in there is no existing postcode as opposed to we don’t have your postcode… Soz, my bad

    Manufacturers/Retailers have to supply a warranty of 7 days on any electrical appliance that is sold in the UK and thereafter the “of merchantable quality” and “fit for purpose” bit comes in

    Do you concur with what Mal has told us, that simply because someone’s Postcode doesn’t come up on (what we now believe to be?) BSH’s computer system then they flatly refuse to call out and honour their commitment?

    Many manufacturers take the stance; If you can’t be bothered to register your appliance details and address, they have no obligation… Nevertheless, if you can produce a receipt for the item and it is within a warranty period then you must then register before their obligation commences.

    I don’t want to be putting a spanner on the works here, but;

    I talked to someone from Masterpart last week about this… Tell them, I already get these prices from Qualtex.

    Trouble is, it isn’t easy to police this. I did exactly what this is suggested a few years ago (renting out machines), however, I got burnt several times by people moving home with the machines and not being traceable.
