ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Service
My initial comment was not related to later posts but to the delay at getting an engineer to return to the machine for the fee that is charged by a large company such as Hotpoint.
Any comments pointed at the engineer were not pointed at the engineers skill, but more at the QOS / aftercare that the customer was given by him. Having said that, I am not privi to the restrictions that are put upon manufacturer employed personnel.I still stand by the fact that the customer should complain to Hotpoint to have a refund of the fee paid. If the engineer had returned the same day or even within 3 days to rectify the fault then I would be saying otherwise.
Is that down to Hotpoint or to the engineer in question? I don’t know.If I had been faced with the same instance, and believe me I have been once or twice (we all miss things from time to time), I would have made a point of returning the same day or the next day.

No Jim, not at all times. It is generally dependant on the machine and problem.. however, after finding blockages in the pump I would then ask the customer to load the machine with a full weight load and put the machine on spin.

ROFL… Actually, yes Jim, as a service on a car covers the brakes too.
However, the problem here was “not draining/spining” .. now, as you know, that is indicative of water content in the drum or brushes (generally), even at my lowly charge-rate I would consider that both points should be checked, not just the one.

Yup, that is a happy result for the woman and for AlanJ. Nevertheless, this is not the issue this time round.
The hefty callout charge of Indesit/Hotpoint for their repairs is indicative of a proper service repair and generally all common failure points should be checked on first contact.
Purely a matter of a difference of opinion and QOS here.

I would be looking at your inlet valves… The water pressure change in your new house may show-up weak valves.
Also, make sure you have the inlet pipes on the right way around.

I agree, Hotpoint are not what they used to be, however, I would be discusted to find having to wait a further week or so for a repair, and would place this on the engineers shoulders , not the customers.

I have to disagree.. What are you saying here, that the customer changed the brushes to place the blame on the engineer?… I don’t think so. As AlanJ said.. The brushes were gone. That doesn’t happen overnight.

Then your pcb needs changing or repairing. You have a relay and/or capacitor gone on the board.

If you leave it for a few minutes does it then start again tumbling in the same direction?

ParticipantRe: beko dcrs 68 stopping
Is it tumbling in both directions?
