ROFL… Noooo!!
Much as I dislike the situation, and the proposal of having to pay for large licence fees for which I get nothing back, and the requirement on me for another pile of paperwork that has to be filled in for each and every collection, I am an avid recycler and loath the waste within the public and private domain. I would therefore love to gain a mandate to collect all these machines that would otherwise be landfilled, flytipped, or scrapped, adding to the deterioration of the environment. I am just very annoyed that the T11 Exception is the only exception that has this charge. the charge alone is a discouragement for recycling in my opinion.

Got a call from EA again today…
They say that since I contacted them and not the other way around, they are going to come out on Monday to assess my licencing needs and make suggestions. “Since you are trying to do things the correct way we are going to try and help you and not hinder you”.
I will report back on the situation once it has been evaluated.

K.
It is one of these new rules that govern people that do ANY form of WEEE recycling by repairation, refurbishment, or reclaimation.
Examples:
1. If you take parts from a broken appliance to repair another appliance.
2. If you collect your customers old appliance with a view to repair for resale.
3. If you dismantle an old boiler to reclaim the metals or parts for re-use at a later dateetc. etc. etc

EA wrote: Exemption T11 – Repair or refurbishment of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
Example activities include:
A business collects fridges which have broken lights or missing doors and repairs them for resale.
A furniture reclamation group collects televisions and white goods from households and refurbishes them for reuse.
A company collects redundant IT equipment from other businesses, which it dismantles and then rebuilds at its own depot to sell on.And, it makes no difference that I have been doing this job for the past 11 years, since before these WEEE laws came into existance.

Luckily, I approached them after accidentally finding the info… I was reading about disposal of fridges and the law relating to it and came accross the page…
The fines for not being registered ‘even by ignorance’ are enormous.

I just got some very disappointing news…
OK … We know that we need a Waste Carriers Licence to go collect washers from customers houses £154 every 3 years….
But just been told by EA themselves that in order to go collect unwanted washing machines from peoples houses and then bring them back to the workshop for repairing for resale or dismantling for parts we have to purchase an additinal licence called a T11 Exemption certificate at a cost of £840…
That’s and extra £1000 to our yearly costs

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
A tiny little bird is flying south for the winter and as he makes his way over fields and farmland an icy cold wind blows in, his wings freeze solid and he plummets out of the sky into the field below. As he lays there in the field frozen and scared a cow wanders over and deposits a huge pile of steaming cowshit all over him….. Gradually the heat from the cowshit begins to thaw out the little bird and feeling better again the little bird begins to sing at the top of his voice with happiness.
Further down the field a big mean old farmcat hears the little bird singing, wanders over and picking the little bird up out of the cowshit, brushes him clean and eats him. There are three very important lessons in life to be learnt from this story. 1.) Not everyone who shits on you is necessarily your enemy.
2.) Just because someone pulls you out of the shit doesnt mean that they are your friend.
3.) If you ever find yourself somewhere where you are warm, comfortable and happy……Then keep your mouth shut!George

If the element is receiving power when the oven is switched off, then surely you mean the regulator?
