Do it all from the front. No magic tips I’m afraid but normally very easy

As said only way to be sure is to use an insulation (megger) to find fault. Bush in my opinion are up there with the worst machines I’ve ever come across

Oh I’ve got one of those. Thought it may mean some other elaborate test for some reason

To megger an appliance is as common to us in the trade as hoovering is to the general public but doing a martindale is completely new one on me
My pat tester checks sockets etc as a pre test to the appliance test itself. Is this what a martindale test is.

Have to be honest I haven’t heard of a martindale test
I do all my own safety checks.

Agree it’s easy to change sockets and check them with relevant tester but i always get them to get an electrician to change them. Not worth the hassle imo

Would change the element. Some cheap ones are just that
Worth putting a genuine one in

What is the point of the rivet pray tell?

Isn’t that to stop any fluff building up again

And as has already been mentioned, what happens when the rear bearing wears through and the drum drops, will the rivet then chew up the rear seal?

I bet all these jobs will have that sort of space to work in, not a chance I’m getting involved

Re: how do you deal with non payers?

Just remembered I have an ongoing one with a blockage on an integrated Hoover wm. Took ages to get it out and unblock
Agent says tenant must pay, tenant says ( which I sort of agree with ) as there’s no accessible filter on this one how is he supposed to do it.
And good old me stuck in the middle
Think I’m going to email all agents and say it’s up to them to get payments from tenants in the future

Re: how do you deal with non payers?

Just got izettle for card payments and although I don’t use it a lot it’s saved me at least 4 times this last couple of months. If they don’t have cheque cash or card then I’m off
