Thanks. I’ll look into those suggestions.

    Re: Dyson washing machine RIP

They were vastly overpriced. Very good, my wife loves ours – but the high price was for the technology and revolutionary design rather than build quality which was decent but no £1000’s worth. I think some of the design was very good, particularly the door seal. Also the quickest wash times I’ve come across.

Wow, they are getting more and more sophisticated aren’t they? To think of all the years when they just boiled, stuck full of water, leaped accross the kitchen etc – happy days 😉

We once had an A3236 Hoover in the workshop at Wigfalls and the rubber drain hose was down to earth. None of us could believe it as the engineer who discovered it gathered us round. Sure enough, when he meggered the live pin and touched the outer rubber drain hose the needle shot over. It must have been rotting and badly cracked inside and water must have been tracking to the surface.

did it look dodgy or did you check all wires with meter.

strange i’v had a few dodgy wires to heater burnt and what not, but normally board throws up fault code on this one??

Sorry I missed replying to this. It was while pulling the wires off the heater to test the heater’s continuity. The insulation on the wire close to the crimp stretched and broke leaving the connector connected to the heater.

Was it a faulty module or did you get another call back?

I’ve just studied all the last 20 topics and the other similar post I remembered was a Bosch and it started fusing. Anyone any ideas on this one for a Hotpoint sticking on 1 minute full of water. I know it was emptying Ok when I fitted the PCB & eeprom but I left it running on a full cycle (after doing basic functional tests) and rang customer back a few hours later to find it hadn’t cured the fault. If it was a pump failure surely it would trigger a pump error code? I get the impression (although I haven’t seen it stck) that it’s actually stuck on a wash or rinse cycle.

I do not at the moment repair Bosch appliances but at the same time as the Hotpoint WMA bearing problem , I received countless calls from Bosch owners complaining of bearing failure. I accept that these may well have been the non german produced machines.

IMHO Bosch washing machines are only slightly better quality than Hotpoint these days with most parts looking surprisingly similar. The Bosch drum bearing and seal is extremely similar to the Hotpoint WMA

    Hi Chris

Some other guy fitted the PCB and Pressure switch. I got the F03 error code from me test dongle. I was puzzled by the simultaneous pump and fill which I’ve not seen before. Any ideas why a simple NTC fault would trigger such behaviour?

Thanks eastlmark. It’s almost certainly a Brandt then. I’ve sent the customer to the Brandt web site.

Re: Who makes Ocean washing machines for Iceland?

Thanks K, Wash Vac don’t do parts for Fagor, Brandt or Blomberg 🙁
My customer is looking for a door seal.

According to him it is “pretty well made” so it could be a Blomberg? He said it’s made in Itally – does that help? Do Italians make any decent machines?

    Re: Bosch lids not safe?

I did wonder whether it was referring to this initially, but the wording is vague. If it had said that if you remove the lid to fit it under a worktop you must fit the special lid it would have been more obvious. It says you must fit the metal lid in place of the original, which implied that if you wanted to leave the original lid on you shouldn’t.

I’m sure it must be referring to if you removed the original lid for height reasons as you both suggest.
