    Thanks for that, Electrofix!
There’s a depot in Poole that I pass each day….never even knew it was there!!
I really appreciate the information – hope they have it in stock tomorrow! 😀

    Cheers,

    Re: Next…

The suggestion was to use conferencing as a means to discuss issues between meetings and not as an alternative to them. 😉 Being in the unfortunate position (not being able to attend) has meant that I am unable to contribute until I know where we are now.
Hopefully when the COP info comes back, I can catch up.

Sounds like the perennial interlock blows PCB problem. Lux will do a discounted repair if the machine is just out of warranty. But this is 4 months old? Why can’t Lux do it? 😕

Firstly, I’d like to apologise to everyone for not being able to attend the last 2 meetings. Jo and I have probably had the worst 12 months of our lives (you know why) and along with Jo’s ongoing operations for her hand, these problems have severely impacted on my involvement with the WTA.
I sent my input to the November meeting via Lawrence (which I hope was helpful) but it became clear that while the meetings are important, another point of contact was needed. I know that the social element is part of it, but when you cannot attend, it removes you from the loop for a while. Lawrence kindly sent me an e’mail on the WTA meeting in February, but I received a Smeg dishwasher manual instead. 😆 No worries Lawrence….can you send me it again? Thanks!!
I hope Ade stays on board as he has done so much towards this venture, it would be a great shame if he pulled out. He did a great job with the draft COP.
At the September meeting I suggested we set up some sort of on – line conferencing that we could have more regular meeting to suit everyone.
When the OFT information is available, is it possible that we could set up something along those lines? Maybe it would allow things to progress more smoothly, rather than waiting for e’mails and PM’s. Set a time and date to suit everyone; most of us are on UKW at least one night a week so let’s talk!!
Over to you – is this worth trying?

The swing out drawer can be removed by opening to 90 degrees, supporting the front cover with the left hand. With the front cover held firmly, pull the dispenser unit (drawer) towards you. It slides off the front cover on a runner. You may need a bit of force (not too much) to move it. Clean thoroughly and refit in the reverse order. Take care to line up the drawer on the runner and push firmly until the clip engages on the pivot rod.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Re: Bosch SGS5318GB/12 Dishwasher

When you say you cleaned the red float; did you remove the metering chamber as a unit and split it down? (The red float is part of this unit). Strange faults can happen on these machines caused by scaling of the black plastic restrictor in the metering chamber. That is the part that the pressure switch (banjo shaped) with the microswitch and lever (blue lever, higher of the 2 microswitches) fits down into. It is clearly visible through the side of the chamber. If it gets scaled, it will back up the water and in turn lift the red float and start the drain pump.
Remove the complete metering chamber and lift out the pressure switch assembly. Then prise off the top rim of the chamber. To remove the restrictor, turn the chamber upside down and tap it smartly on a flat surface. The restrictor will then be accessible with pliers. Remove and clean then refit. When the machine is filling, the restrictor should not impede the water flow and cause it to back up and lift the red safety float. I have also had the airbox nozzle that fits into the top of the chamber block with scale. Look for that too.
If that doesn’t sort it, then PCB.

    Re: Bosch SGS43A22UK/01 dishwasher overfills.

I know this mod was a superceded PCB; the BSH site shows no alternative to the original. It also still shows the float and reed switch; hence the question. I can’t see the timed fill bit though, as mains water pressure is infinitely variable, so what would the fill signal mechanism be after the modified PCB is fitted?
Well confused am I….. anyone have a part number or info on this mod? 😕

No, this is earlier than the impeller jug type – there is a magnetic float in a channel next to the filter in the sump and a reed switch clipped to the outside of the sump. The reed switch is influenced by the position of the float in its channel. It’s just that this one is blatantly ignoring the float….

    Re: Membership.

That sounds like a good idea as a freebie is sometimes necessary to generate interest.
The WTA is primarily for the independents to have a united voice and hopefully to help the industry as a whole be more inclusive. The only reservation I have is for the voting rights of the engineers who work for the sheds and the manufacturers. If they are to vote, could it open up the ‘witch hunt’ situation we have seen developing in the Rumour Mill in the last 2 weeks? If we are not allowing the manufacturers to have voting rights, could the vote be scewed by the manufacturers engineers ‘toeing the party line’ and therefore the issues being discussed may not be a true representation of what is needed? I am just saying that you may be getting the manufacturer voting by the back door…..
What the answer to that is, I’m not sure, but I think Ian is right. Inclusive, not exclusive is the ethos of the WTA, but who should be invited??

Most common fault was broken wiring down where the loom comes up and round the door hinge screw. The broken wires will make and break on opening and shutting the door.

If the door lock is burnt, it will need replacing. But it almost certainly would have blown the main PCB and the display board. I had one last year that had blown all of the above AND the analogic pressure switch as well!!! 😯 Nice looking stylish landfill!! 👿
Electrolux are aware of the problem with the EWM2000 PCB’s and will do a discounted repair if the customer goes to them as it is a very late machine.
My customer’s repair came to nearly £300 – only saving grace was that it was integrated in a swish new kitchen. He was less than impressed as was I. This shouldn’t happen……. :rolls: If I come across this, I just refer them to ‘Lux now.

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
