ParticipantRe: How the spanish deal with weee
Now if that was in Britain…….
First of all, you’d have to decide, “Am I really that upset? Maybe I should take some deep breaths, a Valium or two, possibly some Yoga and meditation…maybe a little Tai – Chi around the workshop would help. Could it be the “Happy Shopper” coffee I bought that has sent my caffeine intake through the roof? Too much sugar…..??
If that won’t diffuse your anger, and your “stiff upper lip” is quivering; consider the alternative………………….:hmm:Before “de – stressing” can commence, the fridge freezer will have to be checked by the HSE to ensure that no injuries could possibly occur. A 100m exclusion zone would have to be set up and be clearly signed. Full kitemarked protective clothing, a full face shield of the correct impact rating, hard hat and kevlar reinforced gloves would be mandatory. That would take about 3 months of consultation between agencies, and a final decision made on the grounds of it’s impact on the environment (broken bits flying everywhere): the person’s mental health at the time of the “de – stressing”, and a test afterwards to see if the person was able to return to work or would require counseling for their temper. They would then be added to the “dangerously violent persons register” where they would stay for the rest of their lives. Their family would be moved to a safe house and given new identities.
Then the sledgehammer would have to be inspected and stress crack tested after each blow to ensure that it was safe to use.
The field would have to be assessed and then public liability insurance purchased for the five minutes that the “person was de – stressing”.
The aftermath of the “stress application and realignment therapy” would then require a registered waste disposal company to sort and dispose of the machine according to EU environmental legislation, with a lawyer standing by to see that the legislation was interpreted correctly, and adhered to in full.
Then an environmental inspector from DEFRA would visit the site and due to the dents in the ground and the noise pollution generated at the time, they would calculate the ensuing carbon footprint produced by such activity. Then they would demand that 150 saplings be planted on the field to offset the damage done and produce a sustainable habitat for wildlife for future generations. 😉Now if the fridge freezer hadn’t been de – gassed…… and the necessary paperwork and proof obtained that the refrigerant contained therein was recovered and transferred to a licensed premises….. where a competent person with a refrigerant handling certificate had taken it from you for disposal…… and you had obtained a receipt which you then entered into a logbook which at any time could be checked by the HSE………..
………..None of the above would apply as you’d be in jail. :rotl:
Britain. Going to hell in a handcart. :rolls:
Well, I had a bad day today; why shouldn’t I share it?

Dead machine is usually worn brushes with Whirlpool. May also explain why the RCD tripped. 😉

ParticipantRe: What Is Actually Fair?
But ironically, dentists and accountants are the first people to question your prices. The sharp intake of breath and the classic “I’m in the wrong job!” quip always amuses me. I then add a “pain in the a*se” surcharge to the bill; after all, I’m saving up for a house like theirs: and every little helps!! :snig:

What detergent are you using? Some 5 in 1 tabs can give excess suds and can cause phantom leaks. Fairy Active Burst came out best all round in the UKW independent tests.
Check the machine is level front to back – ie:- not leaning forwards. Correct if necessary. Remove the wash rotors and look for blocked jets and split seams. Blocked jets happen because the filters were not regularly cleaned or not refitted tightly after cleaning. Food matter blocks the jets and the rotor may not spin. A split rotor seam will require replacement. Both will cause uneven spray patterns and sometimes the water can be fired straight at the door seal area under great pressure which will result in leaks.
If none of the above checks sort the problem and you have swapped your detergent, then the machine could be overfilling. Engineer time. 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: re tricity bendix slimline DH090
Is the valve solenoid buzzing or the motor running with no water? If the valve is buzzing and not filling, the valve could be stopping the water due to blockages where the pink pressure hose is fitted to the front of the sump. Remove the hose and blow down it. The safety shut off diaphragm in the valve should click in and out. If OK, then check the nozzle the hose fits to is clear. If the wash motor is running with no water, check the other small hose which goes to the pressure switch. If the system is blocked, the switch will be stuck on “Full”. When the hose is pulled off its nozzle, the pressure switch will click off. Surefire blockage problem.
Inside the machine, remove the cover cap under the filter and check the blue syphon tubes. Then check the ‘U’ shaped hose underneath that links the syphon chambers. All of these items can be blocked and will give fill metering issues.
Finally, if all is clear (or cleaned and refitted) and then valve still will not fill, turn the machine to a cycle, hear the valve buzzing and firmly tap the inlet hose thumb nut (the piece that screws on the valve) with a hammer and the safety shut off diaphragm will reset itself and the machine will burst into life.Hope that helps,
Steve.

The pressure switch used on this machine is liable to stick on full or empty – this can throw up the fault code on the switch LED’s. The vertical LED’s are the fault code. The top one is no. 1: down to no. 5. The fault code should be in the “Known Fault Codes” thread at the top of this forum.

Pile side down – I sometimes borrow the customer’s door mat; but I carry a couple of B&Q budget door mats if needed. (round edges, reeded pile type and dirt cheap!). Lift the cooker and kick the mat under the feet, lower onto the mat and just slide it out. Easy!!

ParticipantRe: COP Draft
What a superb piece of work, Adrian!!
I have read through the COP twice and the only thing it doesn’t mention is the WTA identity card scheme. In the first paragraph it says “An approved member may be recognized by it’s distinctive WTA logo which features the wording “Whitegoods Trade Association” along with the blue WTA logo. Should this be changed to:- An approved member can be recognized by his “Whitegoods Trade Association” identity card, which carries his company name, membership number, the WTA logo and the engineer’s skillset. The ID card also carries the WTA telephone number to further identify the individual in the photo for customer reassurance and security”.
Other than that, I can’t see anything that needs adding or elaborating. It encompasses everything we do, and the mechanisms that can be mobilized should a member be faced with a complaint.
The OFT should be more than satisfied with this; all we need now is the 2 years to pass until it’s rubber – stamped. :rolls:Thanks Adrian!

ParticipantRe: bosch dw pump
Easiest way is to remove the door panel (6 screws), open the door and undo the lower 2 screws on the edge of each side panel. This will allow the plinth to be removed (1 screw each side). Pull plinth forward, spread side panels slightly and pull off. Remove the cover plate behind the plinth (2 screws) and the pump is revealed.
Before removing the flexible pipe from the water metering system to the sump, sponge out all the water from the sump. This will stop the base getting water in it and subsequent alarm problems on reassembly.
Remove the pump supply wires. The pump is secured by a sprung plastic barb. Squeeze the barb and twist the pump off.
As Haynes manual would say, “reassembly is a reversal of removal”. This is not difficult just a little fiddly at first. Sponge out any water spilt into the base.Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: clicking hotpoint bwd129 washer dryer
Hotpoint / Indesit washer driers suffer from the drier heating elements working loose on their brackets – this will give a loud metallic tapping noise on a high speed spin (loaded machine). No noises when the drum is turned by hand or spins with no load; no loose weights or parts having fallen off; shaking the drum by hand has no effect. Loaded fast spin is the only time you will hear the knocking.
If those above assumptions are correct, replacing the drier heater element will usually sort it……..for now. 😉
You will have to get Indesit to fix it – you will invalidate the warranty if you or anyone unauthorized touches it. They should be able to fix it!! -
