Re: New way to replace Bosch brushes.

I’ve often mentioned UKW to some of my customers, in fact I’ve encouraged them to look it up in order to get an independent verification that what I’m trying to tell them is factual and honest.
They still come back to me when they’ve checked out what I’ve said is true, and they’re happier for it. πŸ™‚

It’s a resource, and like all resources, some will use and some will abuse. But I’m pretty sure I’ve not lost a single customer down to UKW, maybe to the net in general but you can never tell.

On the balance of things, I’m pretty sure that having UKW has put more money in my pocket than taken away.

Roly, any chance of a look at that software and the costs?

Murphy’s law…. if it can go wrong, it will!

I run a home network including my business PC, all files are backed up on each pc automatically. That way if four fail, I still have one left.

Soft imo mate. They’re paying for your expertise. You did what his son couldn’t do even if his son was halfway there. It shouldn’t matter whether you did an hours hard sweat or an easy five minutes, it’s your knowledge and ability that you’re charging for. By all means hide his son’s blushes if you have to though.

    Don’t give it away.

It’s normally a push in job, the stat is held in place either by two plastic stumps or by two angled pieces of metal. Never bolted on.

The very fact that you’re asking ‘did I do wrong’ seems to me that you’re not entirely at peace with what you did. But like others have already said, that’s for you to live with.

Personally I wouldn’t (though sometimes I wish I was capable of doing that), I’d decide on a certain amount of profit, explain to the customer how much I’d saved them and then hopefully reap the benefits in getting word of mouth passed about how fair I’d been.

But like another thread not so long ago, it can seem that I’m being judgemental, I’m not. you asked the question and I’m just answering it with an explanation of why.

That’s easy to get around. Just buy three more (you’re going to need to anyway right?) then send the dud ones back in the new packaging… when you get the replacements remember to keep the packaging from them for future use.

Not ideal I know, but if they’re creating hurdles for you, then you may as well find a way around them.

Exactly the same as you Robbra, get very few people refusing to pay such a low call out fee, those that aren’t willing to fork out for that aren’t worth wasting my time on.

Re: How the ****did that get in there

I went to an Asian customer about a year ago, it was a recall to a pump I’d replaced on an integrated WD. I warned him that if I found the pump to be faulty it would be foc, but if it was a blockage it would be a full service charge again. (The pump was only fitted about a month previously so I was pretty sure it would be ok).

So surprise surprise then when after 30 mins + work of dragging the machine out I then found a very large, very thick and very heavy chain made of Indian gold wrapped around the impeller.

Imagine my greater surprise then when I presented it to him and told him he’d be paying Β£65. I naively thought he’s be pleasantly surprised at my honesty… oh no, he threw it hard at the worktop, mouthed off in his own language, practically threw the money at me and told me to get out.

No pleasing some people, but at least he paid up :rotfl:

I think they must be very busy guys, either that or finalising some details. I’m still waiting on some info etc. but anything worth doing is worth doing properly. Just being patient here myself. πŸ™‚
