Just put the paddle hard against the front of the drum then mark the part of the tabs that don’t line up with the large part of the slots and cut that part off.

The first time I came across this was an under warranty call and this was the answer from LG technical.

Taking the drum out makes no difference on this. The paddles are fitted before the drum is formed. The only way to fit a new paddle is to cut half of each tab off otherwise there is not enough room at the front of the drum to slide it in.

There is a modification by Hoover on this appliance where the safety stats were replaced with one at 180oC instead of 160oC to avoid nuisance tripping.

I would suggest a sticking or worn motor brush.
