ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
same day call out..there in 14 mins from her call …..needs a front panel on a zanuzzi and she gets the hump because i dont have the part!!!….’ oh i did tell your girl on the phone what was wrong’….
yeah love, i diagonosed the fault, drove to distripart from south london got the part, hacked down the motorway back to wimbledon in 14 mins… !
honestly….how do these people get through lifes expectations!…
why is it, we are meant to carry a complete part list of 25 years of zanuzzi in small van!…esp when she rang and got a call that quick….idiots the lot of them……. still, i did her for £76 call out whilkst she waits 3 days for part…last laugh and all that!

ParticipantRe: One For The Tracked Engineer
hey phil i agree with you…….i have being doing the job for 24 years and have worked as a service manager for a big manufacturing company….. yes it is swings and roundabouts, i am quicker now than i was 24 years ago and i am in the top 5 out of 60 for 1st time fix in my company…
however, we all have engineers who demand to finish early, who drop calls, who ‘bomb’ calls and order parts…all company’s have them …and its up to the management to performance manage them…
trackers and real time laptops are a great management tool…i agree as a service manager and also an engineer…i have no problem with finishing early if the stats are good and the customers happy,….however i have found the most moaning, stubborn and tracker hating engineers are the ones who actually are not that good and have all to hide.
i have found in this business esp if you are employed by a service department- the statement ‘ i will do my best’ , or ‘ if i get time to complete the call’ has become a thing of the past…you live or die by your performance figures and hopefully this keeps the cowboys or slackers out of the game
i was once told by an old wirey service manager at Hoover many years ago ‘ son, make sure your performance is good and also never let a complaint about you land on my desk…….. keep the job clean and tidy and the only time you will see or hear from me is once a year on field accompliment when i come out and buy you lunch!’… and yes he was right!!!!!
trackers are a management tool, keep your nose clean and you have nothing to hide!

on the flip side….. i would have no problems having a tracker in my van….. i do 12-14 hours a day with a 5 hour return trip in london…. when the call staff try to slip another extra into my day whilst the london engineers refuse to do more than 10 cos they have to be home for ready steady cook at 4pm, least they can see how hard i am working!!!
i have nothing to hide!…i think opposition to trackers are for engineers who swing the lead !

ParticipantRe: Holes found in clothing after washing?
being a old hand at this job and through early years of being tongue twisted by customers who all think they know better, i always approach this situation by asking to see the damaged clothes first without even touching the machine…..as above posters have stated , then ask them casually ‘ oh, and what program do u use?’….they always say ‘ oh i bung it on the cotton one!’
then i look at the item, its normally always non cotton wash labels or wool, or hand wash!
there u have them….they cant get away from it……job done!!!…wrong programs for wrong materials…….!….if you go downb the line of replacing drums, door seals..you will never get to the cause fo the fault and will be forever chasing a fault you will never fix!

ParticipantRe: AEG ARCTIS 2792-4GA(928341004)
its the ‘blanket’ heater o/c……its a stick on heater underneath the evaporator……..

ParticipantRe: electrolux esl63010
is that you arran?….lol…ok , normally pcb on this model…you can check resistqnce of heater across PCB connections A1 – C5 ( approx 26 ohms)…if you have resistance it will be PCB, thanks Chris

ParticipantRe: zanussi zwd1681 / ewm3000 board service manual
before u go down the pcb route, check the dryer heater insulation….i bet it is low, this normally causes E36!!!….if it seems ok, run the dryer for a few mins and then check insulation directly onto dryer element…
never had a lux machine with a failed pressure switch/pcb causing E36, always the dryer element…hope this helps!

press button 1 and 3 (from left) whilst switching on and you will enter diagonstics……pressing 1 again you will get diagnostic code in a number of bleeps …i’e 1 bleep = I10 no fill, 2 bleeps = I20 poor pump and so on and on!
suspect you have a poor pump causing timeouts…….
hope that helps chris
