Pretty sure it`s £60 for free carriage on internet orders , which helps slightly.

Yeah , I noticed that as well . Makes cross referencing and comparing prices slightly more inconvenient. Damned unsporting of them 😆 but I`m sure we`ll get by.

So, what your suggesting is that I replace the magnetron and inverter board.

Yes , assuming fault is in no way connected to display PCB being replaced.ie all connectors/wiring in place.

Looks like a very expensive repair…..is it for a mad insurance company ❓

    Re: Panasonic Microwave

Pretty sure this is a faulty invertor which is the electronic package that replaces the transformer , capacitor and diode. These are priced at around £80+vat trade . Invertor faults can sometimes be brought on by a faulty magnetron.
All in all an absolute nightmare and your original suggestion of the bin is unfortunately accurate. 😡

Thanks for the Part No. Martin. Don`t know if there`s anything special about this regulator but it`s damned expensive at £32:36+vat 😯 and a special order from Connect.
Think she`ll be very careful with over-spills from now on. 🙂

Did you check the thermostat was operating when set temperature was reached ❓ as occasionally on these cheapo ovens a faulty element can result in a shorted thermostat and no temperature control.

Thanks for the advice lads. Must admitt I didn`t spend much time on this dryer as I was there to replace the pump on their washing machine. This was one of them “oh you couldn`t have a look at the tumble dryer as well could you?” There did however appear to be a reasonable flow of air from vent hose though 😕
I`ll check fan/motor more thoroughly before ordering any stats.

A fair and firm attitude is how I see it and I believe the customer respects you for it. It is true though that it`s easier to take this approach knowing you have plenty work on a week to week basis.
As I said it`s only very occassionally someone queries my charges and I find most decent customers (the type you want to keep) just appreciate having an appliance repaired at a cost effective price regardless of how long it takes.

Re: Do you get penalised for being good?

The occasional customer who makes the “£40 for 10 mins. work” remark never bother me anymore.
They`ve already been told the likely charge before and during my visit and I normally have the bill written out before I call them through for final discussion about the fault and payment. I simply hand them the bill and my business card and say “there you go , just as i said on the phone”. 🙂
I think this way I don`t give them time for any comments and on the odd occassion when an unhappy remark is made I simply repeat “that is what I said on the phone isn`t it”.
These people don`t know anything about running a business and I don`t accept having to pan out jobs just for the sake of it.
