    Re: Call screening?

When these customers are phoning you, do you not think they have made every attempt to solve it without paying a penny.
Judge every one on its own merit, If you go too far down this road why not direct every punter on to this site and you can tell them online exactly how to repair the machine from your armchair, thus saving them from any charge, and loose the last bit of the cherry we enjoy.

Surely they are buying a service, it sounds a bit like going for a meal and the waiter saying, dont buy the wine off me, nip over the road to the supermarket its much cheaper.
We all know its cheaper, but we still buy if we want to enjoy the service.

Yes I have told the customer to reset the machine stuck on test (hpt) but Ive also gone out and charged for the service too.

    Re: Tech info

Configuration Charts included in the box with the new control board? or at least they use to be, so why are they asking anyway.

Back in the early 90’s Hotpoint setup the original in house help desks.
That kicked off with guys wanting to impart there knowledge on the general public. It backfired when punters would buy the part on the say so of the engineer take it home and fit it, to find the problem wasnt cured.
It was soon stopped and became a facility for their own engineers and non tech for all others.

The knowledge you all have as service engineers (that reminds me of a previous post ” engineers”) has taken many years to obtain, why give it away for nothing?

Re: An offer you can’t refuse?

Speaking to my brother, he has had two appliances this week alone both under warranty with Indesit and on both occassions he has been paid to attend and repair the appliance.
The last one I know of recently an Indesit washer dryer 5 weeks old and the module had blown, two weeks before any service was available.
Bought from Tesco, Serviced by Indesit, Do You expect anything better?
Tesco washed their hands of it and Indesit didnt want to know.
What Independent could do that because it was over 28days. Not many.

If you keep telling a cat its a dog eventuallly it will start chasing cars and bark, or at least I am told. If Indesit keep saying they are good eventually someone may believe them or at least this is as good as it gets.

    Re: hotpoint engineers cannot solder

When at Hotpoint I wouldnt have dream’t of not having a soldering iron on the van, washer dryer modules for one – no motor action was always the dry joint on the module, then theres the microprofile.
My TDM as they were then, acknowledged this and never had a problem.
I did register and log it on my record of items pat tested and labelled it up annually.
There again this was in the days of the local service office. I always considered that we were employed to repair these items.
Safely but efficiently, nothing more efficient than resoldering a dry joint thus saving either the company or the end user the price of a board.

    Re: wma31

Helped a friend out recently he had fitted a new drum on a wma31 and then found the same problem.
Fitted a new module to find the same. washing, but on a spin it turned once and continued to distribute.
Problem, he had reversed the two wires on the relay r.hand side (on the board) One insulated the other non insulated terminal.
One side pressure switch the other heater. many years ago I did the same after fitting a new drum. A quick check in the manual put me right. 😳

Is it common place, I have known several of these where the felt seal has simply come adrift and filled with lint – not quite as bad but non the less full of lint.

Re: Bosch or Zanussi washing machine?

Talking cutting tabs off the drums, Bosch do some fantastic side cutters just for this job and no other, I bought two pairs about three years ago at around £8 each great but they remain in the box. Never needed them as I havent found a faulty drum yet.
If you need the part # let me know.
Got a bag of screws and tub seal here also.
