ParticipantRe: Thermal link
Creda heating is no longer on partfinder as they split when Merloni bought GDA.
Creda heating remained part of GDA Energy along with Redring.
They still operate from the Redring building next door to Indesit Peterborough, or at least they did last time I heard of them.burns
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 5 Year parts warranty
Reading this post why are you guys not repairing these products?
To disregard repairs because the manufacturer added an additional form of warranty doesnt make sense.
I would definately condone making sure the customer is informed as too all their options. But even then, there’s nothing to stop you selling your service and taking the job even if the cost is higher.
I know many customers who have paid independents to have V2 drums fitted at twice the price. Why ?
Because they know the quality of service they are receiving.
You can often offer a quicker repair.
You have their trust. Dont abuse it but use it.
Again, tell them their options, tell them what you can do and how much it will cost, and do the job right.
They didnt phone Hotpoint, they phoned you….Tell them why its going to cost more. If you can pull the stops out it could pay dividends.February 3, 2007 at 11:26 pm in reply to: how many words can you make out of indesit-hotpoint #195871burns

That training film was still being shown in 1991, at training school peterborough. Wonder what ever happend to that film.
It was a classic and unusual for a training film very good.
I can think of some who would benefit from watching it today.burns

ParticipantRe: hotpoint SD98P oven
I have a inclination its Ariston built, Im sure all Hotpoint singles are now Ariston and the twins and double still coming from blythe bridge (well things change so quickly).
If the fan oven element goes off it will work like a fan assisted rather than fan oven. The grill element has an outer ring? according to partpro.
With the outer and the base on after the warm up using the fan oven element.
Pure guess work but it seems a similar idea to the smartcook, but that was side heat conventional with fan boost.
Sounds very much like the top element out of action.
Let us know.
Cheers.January 7, 2007 at 1:18 am in reply to: Is a Hotpoint the quietest washing machine available? #199742burns

ParticipantRe: hotpoint SD98P oven
The principle may be like the Creda Smart Cook, that used the fan oven element to boost and bring it upto temp and then it switched off leaving side heat elements only to obtain a quick conventional cooking method without preheating.
The problem encountered is on those once the foven element went off and the door was opened to insert the food, the side heat elements couldnt recover temperature quick enough to be effective.
Cakes would flop etc… Ok for general cooking though.
I took this up with Creda tech a few years back and was supplied a kit of extra insulation to stop heat loss through the side walls. It did the trick and the customers cakes were rising once more. That was after the manufacturers engineer had thrown every conceivable part at it without success. 😉

ParticipantRe: An offer you can’t refuse?
The only time in my working life I ever belonged to a union, was when I worked for good old Hotpoint Limited.
Can’t think it ever negotiated anything worth having whilst I was contributing, I dropped it well before leaving.burns

ParticipantRe: Seat Inca van
IVE HAD FOUR OF THESE VANS BETWEEN 1996 AND 2000, THEY WERE GREAT AT THE TIME, VERY RELIABLE AND ECOMOMICAL, THINGS HAVE MOVED ON SINCE, REMEMBER THEY WERE ANOTHER VERSION OF THE VW CADDY.
I DONT THINK THEY HAVE PRODUCED THEM FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS AS SEAT DONT DO ANY COMMERCIAL MOTORS AT ALL.
THERE IS MORE MODERN VANS ON THE MARKET NOW LIKE THE NEW CADDY, THE CONNECT,THEVAUXHALL COMBO IN THE CAR DERIVED VAN SECTION WHICH PROBABLY OFFER MORE SPACE AND MORE MODERN, BUT THAT SAID, THEY WERE GREAT VANS WHEN WE HAD THEM. -
