ParticipantRe: Kitcheneers Ltd
Nice letter, Well put.
Unfortunately it may never get to the people that count.
Which would be a shame. Hope it does.burns
ParticipantRe: Have a go heroes
The link shown by Martin seems very much like it, funny though they didnt tell her to rip out all the wires and bend the timer though?
I must have missed the bit about removing the duct pipe and leave out also. Somepeople are ever so helpfull.burns
ParticipantRe: The cheek of the bloke!
Can see both sides and yes I do have a roll of professional stickers containing my details and phone number on, which I use as a rule.
Care is required and gauge your customers properly.
Many customers do thank you for leaving the contact number behind and it saves them hassle from recalling where they left your number.I always advise the customer that I will leave my number on the appliance and offer a moment of grace before plonking a sticker on.
I repaired a built in dishwasher a while ago and the lady had a washer I had supplied just on view in the other room, not wanting to be intrusive and I wouldnt have dreamt of entering the utility to sticker the washer.
I advised the customer who I had always considered to be a little fussy, that I had a business sticker which contained my details and would normally place one on the inner door, but as the machine was in the utility and in use at present I would simply leave her the sticker for later use.
She gladly accepted this, thanked me and plonked it straight in the middle of the door glass. Definately not as fussy as I had thought. :rolls:Slightly different, I use a permanent marker and always date the repair on either the rear or under the lid of what work I have carried out (where possibe) just to save any issue later, like the worn hpt carbons fitted 2 years ago that the customer is convinced was only a few months back etc.
It certainly stops any arguements later. 😆burns
ParticipantRe: phone call from indesit
There is a small shop nearby selling motor spares called “Harrods” sometime ago the local paper ran an article because he had received a letter telling him he couldnt use the name “Harrods”. he got a big write up in the paper telling everyone of his plight. That must have been worth a fortune in free advertising to this small shop. He still remains and still carries the name, but much better known.
On a personal note I used to run adverts in the yellow pages and carry the Hotpoint / Creda logos. YP would only run these after I produced a letter from GDA stating I was an authorised centre (at that time).
As far as the vans went I would produce the proofs and get my Hotpoint and Creda reps to contribute towards the cost from his promotional support budget. I always kept a copy of that with the proof just in case. My reckoning was that if they paid towards it they wouldnt make me take it off.
Definately worked at that time. Cant say about now, probably no such thing as promotional support anymore.
Would say though clamping down on indies using the yellow pages isnt new though, I remember my area manager tearing pages out of the YP every year and sending them to head office. That was in the days when you could trade off being an ex hotpoint engineer and they continued to hold majority in the white goods market.burns

For spares or service contact Maytag UK call centre on 01737 231 000
The ice maker is complete with the exception of a couple of parts which transfer over from the old unit.
Namely wiring loom and arm.burns
ParticipantRe: BLUE TOOTH HEAD SETS ?
See youve already sorted this but for the benefit of others.
Can recommend the Parrot. For the uninitiated you get the display screen. microphone and bluetooth box.
Simply remove the radio and connect into the din sockets (other leads) provided they piggy back into the loom. Route the mic and display. Works through the radio (on or off) installation took less than 1 hour and the results pretty good, every bit as good as the professionally fitted nokia car kit in my car, and they cost less than £100.
Automatically reconnects when you get back to your vehicle and re insert the keys. Just leave the phone in your pocket. There is different models. Only draw back wont charge the phone like a proper car kit with cradle. 💡
Thank goodness for the charging lead.burns
ParticipantRe: Where can I see an admiral …
Currys for one stock the admiral. The black is a very durable finish, personally I have stainless steel. Its a magnet to fingerprints. Thats a problem you wont get with the black or white models.
Can seriously recommend this from the pretenders, but totally bia 8) sedburns
ParticipantRe: Fridge/Freezer Fires
On average I would have guessed that other appliances were more prone to fires, for instance tumble dryers not being de linted, leaking washing machines, dishwashers etc.
I wouldnt have put fridge freezers high on my list. Ok the odd defrost heater???burns
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint TDC60P
Check the water tank hasnt lost the connector, ive had a few that the water connector tank / float chamber has pinged off and the spiggot dissapeared. That certainly would give you the water lamp problem. 💡

OK so not as smart as I thought 😥
Any splits in the lower arm??burns
ParticipantRe: Neff d/w S4453N0GB/13
This has been listed several times before under Hotpoint / Bosch.
Main culprit is the hose from the water tank to the sump,. remove the front plinth and it is on the left hand side. It can be removed at floor level from the front without disturbing the dishwasher.
Take out and clean all the gunk out. Its very common and restricts the flow of water.
I found this some years ago after suspecting the motor. From then on its the first thing I would check (after obvious liked blocked spray arms).
The hose pulls out and is a push fit back into the sump.
Easy job and the customer is usually relieved because they probably suspected an expensive motor needed. 😉burns
ParticipantRe: HOTPOINT DWF30 DISHWASHER
Check the pipe to the sump from the left hand side (metering tank) prone to getting full of gunk and restricting the water flow.
Same as the post re the Bosch machine recently.
If you remove the plinth, you can pull the hose away and refit very easily.burns
ParticipantRe: siemens dishwasher top spray arm not turning
Once youve cleaned out the sump hose it will work fine.
It is a build up over time so its not dependent on any other failing.
Best is you can get to this hose from the front of the machine, after removing s/steel cover (plinth) and you can usually just pull it out and refit it without any dismantling.
Job well done. 😆burns

ParticipantRe: Disc like a grey £1 coin. What is it please
You dont know what it is your lookin at, youve no idea how it works but you feel competent to take it apart and decide what is what. I hope the gas fire doesnt pack in next week or the whole street will know about it.
My advice would be for the sake of £40 – £50 get an honest opinion go by recommendation, its worth its weight in gold and could save you a lot more in the long run. 😳 -
