the fridge and freezer are working perfectly and water dispencer works just the display flashing and ice maker not working?
    did you understand that?
cheers i just didnt understand how the evaporator being choked would make the display flash and stop the ice maker working, if you try to dispence ice the bulb for the dispencer also flashes
    cheers mike

You asked for advice, which i offered from my experience to check before paying a lot out for parts not neccesarily needed .
    i wont bother next time

Re: whirlpool american f/f s20b rss31-a/g display flashing

i would check the evap motor is working correcty, and evaporator isnt blocked with ice ( ie not defrosting properly ) before changing boards…
by the date code of the serial number, you would need to replace front and back board if this does turn out to be the issue , due to compatability issues , but def worth checking the other first

edit .. also worth checking the condensor isnt choked and the condensor fan is working

there is usually a guide inside the top control panel , assuming previous engineers haven’t robbed it 😆
    explains test procedures etc .
power supply off before removing the panels though – and mind your fingers on the sharp edges 😯

Incidentally, installing a 10A in place of a blown 6.3A? 8O. Sounds rather an unsafe practice to me.

Thermal fuses are in the dryers , mike, but the op was asking about a top loader washer ( i know, almost identical mode number 😆 )

I made the silly mistake of not noting the component details ( they were going to scrap it initially so didn’t see the point ) and the house is 50 odd miles away …. but I guess it is worth a revisit if I can source at a more reasonable price .
    Thanks again Chris 😀

Very much obliged Mr P. Would I be pushing my luck to ask where to get these from ? There could be a tin of pilchards ( in tomato sauce ) in it for you 😆
