    Re: Oven Thermostat Testing

As advised on the other thread you started on this, most likely cause of your problem is a duff base or upper element ….. unless you have tested them since the last time you asked ?

is there an element under the oven floor ?
has the shelves or base been coated in foil ?
Does the setting use the upper element as well as the circular one ?

I could be mistaken but I am sure that one archaic piece of legislation related to the windows. I think that if the van had an extra window just behind both front doors it was allowed to travel at 70mph on motorways but not dual carriageway A roads. There were some light vans that had such windows fitted as standard.

I would think that a fully laden Astra van would be above the 2 ton limit for dual carriageway A roads as well, but then Astra van drivers seem unable to keep below 90 mph on the motorways anyhow. :rolls:

Edit, Just noticed I related the same tale in the Astra thread Martin linked to. 😳

When I worked for Hotpoint , I had an astra with the ” family ” bench seat behind the driver and passenger seats , and think I was told I was able to abide by the car rules , whereas I had team mates with the standard 2 seats that came under the van rules .
