ParticipantRe: Faulty 8702 flooded our downstairs flat
Have known a sticky vavle on a new appliance letting water by invariably caused by a foreign body getting in to it, and usually through new or altered plumbing which hasn’t been flushed before the appliance was connected.
Turn the machibe supply tap off straightaway to prevent futher damage until the problem is sorted and get the manufacturer to deal with it…they will simply replace the vavle to cure the problem.
If you are looking to have the damage paid for i would suggest you go for the manufacturer, although if they decide the fault was caused by the plumbing then you may have a fight on your hands unfortunately.Clive

Haven’t done one for ages but seem to remember there is a mod…they are extremelt prone to getting steam in the membrane switch. If memory serves the mod is something silly like a piece of sellotape along the bottom edge of the membrane housing (i’m sure Panasonic did supply some very expensive tape) 😯

Hi wrighty
E3 means its not heating…there can be many reasons for that though, not neccessarily expensive. Are you in a hard water area?

ParticipantRe: Creda Double Oven
Hi gadget
It certainly sounds like the stat for the top oven is faulty…this would be a worthwhile repair on an oven of this quality, unfortunately you stand little chance of getting a replacement without the model number. The only alternative is to remove the stat and get the numbers printed directly on it…it should be identifiable from that.
The rating plate which shows the model number (probably a 5 digit number) would most likely be around the door opening…check at the bottom of the lower door and ease back the door seal to see if its under there.
If you can get either the model number or the stat number then Dave Conway will be able to furnish you with one.
Don’t forget, you must fully isolate the appliance before any dismantling…make sure the supply switch is off, and if you’re not confident that the switch is a double pole switch then remove the fuse at the consumer unit too.Clive

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD62N
Most cold vavles have a restrictor on the inlet side…if you pull out the filter you should see a small rubber washer fitted to a central stem. I don’t know if you can get different sizes but check there is one fitted.
Hot valves don’t generally have then in…you could carefully put one in I suppose but usually when the hot is at a really high pressure I just fit a cold valve…just make sure to mark the back panel of the machine to show which valve is which! 😉
Hope that helpsClive

ParticipantRe: Hoptoint Condensor Dryer not drying
Yes Susan…
If the condensor was really fluffed up then it has probably overheated and tripped the TOC…this can only be tested with a meter. Depending on the model and age, it may also have a themal fuse which has blown and needs replacing.

Does it produce hot water at the tap Paul?

Do you have a combi boiler? Might be a leaky diaphragm inside 😉Clive

…and I should add that you should have at least one tap supplied directly from the mains for drinking water (bylaw requirement), the rest may be supplied by your header tank…if you know where this is check that it has a cover (another bylaw requirement) and have a peek inside with a torch. You may be a little shocked at what you see in the bottom…the mains does carry a certain amount of bits which will settle there but if you get the same smell as you do at the tap then firstly you are drinking water not intended for drinking, and secondly it will need draining and cleaning 😉

Paul
There really is no way any amount of water could come back from the mchine fill hoses into the water supply…I would ask your water supplier to urgently test the water quality, it may be contamination from supply piping. I’m sure they would be most interested to establish this ;)…they are under very strict obligations to provide drinking quality water.
As to the lack of hot fill…if you have checked that hot water is delivered to the machine, that the inlet filter is not blocked, and that you are selecting a program which requires hot water (generally any prog of 60c and above), then assuming the move was gentle enough to avoid wires being knocked off inside then most likely the hot valve inside has failed…this can be easily (and cheaply) repaired!
