Finally the catch mechanism opoerates onto a microswitch with two wires on it. If the micro switch is defective or catch fallen apart and not operating it (yes they do that as well) you can just connect the two wires together that are on the microswitch.NO! For the benefit of any future readers of this thread DO NOT under any circumstances do this, it effectively bypasses an essential safety mechanism which could result in severe scalding to the hapless victim that opens the door mid-cycle.

On conventional oven setting two elements should be on…one inside at the top and one below the base panel. The easiest way to check the lower element function is to switch on from cold, set the stat up highish and lay a hand on the oven base….you should detect the heat beginning to rise with your hand after only a minute or two.
The fan oven uses a third element behind the back panel but not the top or bottom elements.
If you’ve got heat on the base as well as the top element in conventional mode then the oven stat has to be prime suspect 😉

If I were to try and check the rotating baffle, is it inside the water heater part (48 0358)?
Yes but access is awful, you basically need to separate the base from the rest of the machine….not technically difficult but as an engineer i would allow an hour to do it comfortably.
If you’re not prepared to set aside half a day then maybe an engineer is your best bet…tell him the symptoms and what you think it might be, he may come with the part, IIRC there’s only two or three versions of the heater box out there.

ParticipantRe: Whirpool ADG957 ..Is my NTC faulty ?
That’s a value judgement…it really depends on age, condition and useage history which is something only an engineer could give having seen the machine……

A continuous flash does correlate to an NTC fault but these are pigs for giving false errors too.
Pragmatically the best way forward is to replace the NTC and try it but expect that you may end up replacing the pcb anyway 😕

Sounds like a problem with the distributor valve on the HEATER BOX which diverts the water between top and bottom arm. You should hear the water sound changing from top to bottom and back again while the machine is running when it works correctly.
If unsure, you’ll need to remove it and check the rotating baffle is still attached inside, unfortunately it’s not a small job due to the poor access 😕

Sounds silly but when you cleaned the ribbed hose did you make sure the spigot it fits into in the sump is clear all the way through into the sump? You can easily clean this by locating it from inside under the filter.
Also, when you cleaned the pressure chamber, did you remove and clean the black plastic baffle inside it?

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP8242 NIGHTMARE!
Yep it’s a smeg and dispenser sounds favourite…the easiest way to check is to hook up any old inlet solenoid on the dispenser harness then give it a run 😉
Sometimes they don’t behave until you’ve done a reset, software problems seem to be quite common….

Certainly sounds like a fan motor fault but i don’t recognise the model number.
The common fan motors are HERE so if you can confirm the model number you’ll know which one?clivejameson
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool ADG 6340 – help please!
The NTC is in the base at about the three o’clock position of the sump bowl…it has two blue wires connected to it, bayonets in from underneath and can be removed with the machine in situ. Be prepared for a little water to follow it out so keep the connections dry 😉
Plug out at all times of course :zap:

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool ADG 6340 – help please!
That correlates to error code E1 (one flash) which means the circuit board detects a fault with the NTC (temperature sensor HERE but there is a strong possibility that the circuit board will need replacing too.
Realistically the only way to find out is to measure the NTC with a meter and then try replacing it anyway 😕

ParticipantRe: AEG lavamat 62820 What is a “barrel ring”?
I’ve never changed one before…always had a complete spider, but apparently the way to remove the old one is to attack it with a centre punch all around it which distorts it slightly and breaks the adhesive. 😉

Either the float switch is stuck/faulty and not operating or quite possibly it’s not filling fast enough…either way get the LHS panel off to have a look.

It will be a problem with the resin pot (water softener). You might be lucky if you remove it’s solenoid and gently clean the rubber tip on the valve pin underneath it, then make sure it slides freely within the coil. If not then it’s time for a new softener…the parts are dirt cheap but then so is the machine 😕
