Yes….we’ve done two or three of these abominations…they have all needed new clock/control units (to cure temperature control problems) which IIRC come in two separate bits 😕

Do I need to remove the matrix before I can remove the fill chamber?
To clean the hose (and check for leaks) I need to do more than just remove the lower front panel, I think.
    Thanks

It depends on the model you have…there are two other numbers on the end of the number you quoted, but most likely yes.
Access from the left hand side panel, towels at the ready and power off at all times please :zap:

…and if it’s a flow meter problem the nine times out of ten it’s just a poor connection to it, clean the little pcb tracks on it and crimp up the connector block.

Have you checked for earth faults?…they play havoc with the pcb…the usual suspects are the suppressor and terminal block, occasionally the element 😉

Generally speaking if it doesn’t come up with a recognised fault code (have a look herehttp://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=40) then the pcb has let go but there are other faults that can cause it such as a faulty dispenser solenoid or earth faults 😉

if power is supplied to the (good) solenoid and this operates the plunger to let the water fall out of the exchanger then you should see the resin beads rise to the top of the pot and move around slightly as the water percolates through 😉

IIRC you can remove the coil (twist fit) then withdraw the valve stem/spring/plunger unit. If the coil has a good circuit them check the plunger is free moving.

Just another thought, these fill the tub by draining the wash charge through the softener in which case is the softener resin free to move about?

    Re: Whirlpool Top Loader

Almost all of those i’ve replaced in the past have split into two pieces where the coupling fits over the shaft of the motor or the gearbox rather than the ‘fingers’ shearing off which i suspect is how they are designed to fail in the case of something jamming the agitator.

The replacements now have a metal collar insert now which should prevent this 😉

Maybe the infamous flow meter has simply stuck through lack of use in which case giving it a good ‘shake’ might wake it up 😆

Re: DeDietrich VZ9996U1- How to replace door tensioning stra

Yes you do need the side panels off to gain access. Be very careful when fitting the new parts because of the spring tension involved…wear protective clothing such as gloves and don’t get your face near.

You will see the adjustment available when you do the job, this needs setting so that the door will just comfortably sit horizontal when it’s open without wanting to pop back up 😉

Thats due to wear between pulley and drum shaft. If you’re very lucky you might get away with a new pulley otherwise it’s a drum spider as well. 😕

They certainly are quite durable, of course how much longer it lasts depends on too many variables to predict and the end of it’s life will be an economic decision…but they do have a very good track record 😉
