ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP8332 error code F4
F4 means it’s not drained, or registered the fact that it’s drained in the allotted time. You can only check the obvious…clean the filter, then have a look in the sump area under the filter, there’s a black plastic grid at the 3 o’clock position. Make sure it’s clean…toothbrush and hot water etc but be careful not to poke anything sharp through the holes, there’s a rubber diaphragm behind it which could get punctured.
If that doesn’t sort it you may need an engineer to confirm a pcb fault 😕

Hi Graham, have a search for Smeg error stuff….loads about. E7 is drain time out but could be similar to E2 which is well posted. Filling by hand and then running may possibly give faults anyway.
Basically, if the pump/pumping is ok, pressure switch ok and the transfer tube and matrix spotless….ohh and the dispenser solenoid ok the it’ll be the pcb…probably 😕clivejameson

That’ll do nicely!

Thanks Jim
Typical eh?…the part number I quoted was from M’part and Connect recognised it too 😕
I’ll order the subs kit and see what arrives….on closer inspection, the new tub has four outlets instead of two (one for the disp hose, one for the sump hose). I can’t find a pic or description of the kit but luckily we quoted big time to do this one so we shouldn’t lose out 😉
Thanks again

Ahaaaa!
I had this problem with a microwave many many moons ago (20 odd years ago) and even got technical advice from the manufacturer who eventually decided the circuit board was managing to pick up some energy from the nearby radar at Heathrow airport. 😯
Of course i discovered the real problem when i fitted the new pcb and had the self same problem…..
It turned out to be the smoke alarm still in its packet in the cupboard above, where it had been for two years and now the low battery alarm was sounding! 😆

WOW where do you start?
Well for a microwave it has to be Sharp or Panasonic IMO…either built in or free standing.
As to built in appliances generally they are just as reliable, or unreliable as their freestanding counterpart…they are basically the same thing but in different skirts 😉 Of course free standing are significantly cheaper though.
I would definitely recommend separate washer and dryer if you can squeeze it somewhere, so much more practical for getting any real quantity of laundry done for students on the run 😆
Yes, frost free for the fridge/freezer too…no worrying about defrosting with sharp objects writing off the machine!
For a dishwasher i would certainly look at a Bosch in this case, yes probably built in spain but to german specifications…quality with value.
Others will no doubt chip in with their preferences of makes but there’s a start.
I would add though that whatever you buy will not be completely bomb-proof and a little student education about filters, salt in dishwashers, maximum load sizes etc would be a good investment too 😆

Manufacturers tend to avoid costs where possible just like any other business and i’m sure that somewhere in the small print it will state that the guarantee is not transferable 😕
If you email spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk a basket could be supplied….don’t forget to quote the service number for your machine (on the rating plate, on the edge of the door…it will be something like 8545********)
When you have your new basket make sure you don’t bend the prongs on it as that will crack the plastic coating and cause it to rust. 😉

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP8342 – Power Light but nothing else
That sounds sensible 😆
If you have a good search through the forums there’s oodles of advice on a replacement, the first decision is really to set the highest budget you can and that will usually dictate the make.
Also, look really for the base model in the range of the chosen manufacturer (given a decent make, the base model will do a cracking job of cleaning), then only look up the model range if there are any specific features you’d like such as delay timer (for running on economy7 at night) etc….the top of the range will have features and programs you will rarely use but if money is no object and you like toys then you might consider those. 😆

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP8342 – Power Light but nothing else
The parts are quite cheap…the circuit board is around the 20 quid mark IIRC, plus the engineer of course, but you get what you pay for and many of us in the trade are reluctant to guarantee anything on these machines i’m afraid 😕

Also if the problem is that the bottom tray is flooded then is emptying it likely to remedy the situation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
PhilNot likely, the base is probably flooded and it will have blown the main the circuit board 😕
Try the link below for an engineer if you really want to spend money on this cheaply made chinese machine.

Worked perferctly for a week (on every day).
Was set on a 65 degree wash.
Now all the red lights are on and the machine is not empty at end of cycle.
Tried a reset but this will not end the program to clear it so I can drain the machine and start a new wash.
HELP! 🙁That sounds more like a drainage problem now 😕
Bale out the water and locate the pump cover at about the 8 o’clock position in the sump, one screw holds it on, remove cover and examine the impellor checking for rotation by hand (details in your instruction book). Do be careful…if there’s a chip of clear glass in there it will be almost invisible in the water.
If still no go then time for an engineer methinks…try the link below to find a local engineer.

In that case it’s the one with the timed top-up…which apparently isn’t on this one 😆
