Wiring fault changing the stat, earth fault somewhere, faulty door switch/wiring?

First thing is to check for a short circuit with the door open, then check for earth faults.

Power off at all times of course :zap:

One glimmer of hope might be that in the life of one Miele or ISE 10 there will be at least three indespoint throw-aways which will be heavier in total…despite their bean tin construction 😆

    Re: Taking the WEEE?

Thanks for that info John, so to summarise from our point of view as a small retailer we can find a local AFT or approved scrap dealer to take the scrap to under the ‘instore take back’ and make sure we get receipts for each product, or if we want it collected from our premises we need to contact DHL directly to do this and notify you so it can be done under your registration scheme (ie US arranging the collection deal etc to save you administration) We’d rather do the latter if it gives you valuable evidence?

Have i got this correct or is the DHL thing now dead?

    Re: Diplomat ADP8332 (Whirlpool)Flooding base

Hmmm…by the sound of it, if it has successfully drained the initial rinse it must be an overfill problem? IIRC these machines have a clear hose each side at the front to drain an overfill into the base…there’s usually a tiny residue up these pipes that can be seen through the pipe walls showing if it has overflowed.

If it’s an overfill then we could be looking at flowmeter probs or even pcb? In cases like this the only solution i would suggest is to allow time for the call and run it until you see the fault…at least that way you’ll know exactly where in the sequence the failure happens. Just a thought…what detergent are they using…it’s not foaming over is it?

That would certainly eliminate any backflow 😉

Worth filling the sink bowl then pulling the plug out to let it drain might also show up any backflow?

If at the end of the drain cycle the water is above the filter then there must be a restriction or backflow somewhere, i doubt whether it would be able to dry things thoroughly with that source of humidity in there 😉

Can you manage to loop the drain hose up under draining board level?

The only way TBH is to get the machine out of the housing, get the base tray off, run the machine until a leak appears, unplug, tip back and then have a really good look with a torch if necessary. Any leak usually leaves a pretty good trail of water so follow it back to the source and let us know precisely where it emanates 😉

This particular model is made by Smeg which do occasionally get leaks although the sump pan is not a common one.

Perhaps you should pop up his post code in Repairs@?

Does the thermostat light stay on?…if it does then the fan element will prolly have failed, if the stat light does not stay on then it will be either the stat or selector switch. Fan element usually attracts the smart money 😉

If you need another element then have a look in Shop@ on the left?

Hi Les…if you look in this forum (Trade Technical Enquiries), and find the topic ‘Known Error Codes’ the answer is there 😉

Fantastic Ken….just the little devil in me wishing the big boys see their come-uppance however I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said and eagerly await my copy.

Just got to rely on Royal Mail now 😕

    Have already done so 😆

Yes.. ask the public to pay a realistic price thats perfectly fair. The trading laws are not what i was getting at, rather the copyright laws…or at least getting up the noses of one or two manufacturers who will might not be over the moon 😉 about it 😆

Ken will it only be available to UKW members?….i’m sure a few of the willing public would buy a copy….just like they would buy a Haynes manual….

And of course, it would put it above the parapet 😉

Sarks wrote:hmmm… brilliant thanks, but this is where it is integrated. Do you think this will also resolve the water not coming into the machine. The E1 is no longer displaying as i powered it on and off a number of times.

You can with a bit of patience mop out the base with a sponge via the lower kick panel to save taking it out of the installation but you’ll still need to find the leak…and more importantly fix it which will most likely be impossible in situ.

Powering on and off can reset the pcb so it simply no longer remembers that the fault occurred but it will prolly pick it straight up again when you try to run it 😕

I should add that you must ensure the appliance is fully isolated before doing this!

    I’d give you 12 to 1 on 😆

Incidentally every one i’ve been to with a failed heater or more usually pcb dry joint manages to get significant heat in the water from the wash pump getting hot 😉
