    Re: Neff Double oven

Being the said partner i can confirm that i did do one this week 8), yes it was the lamp that did it BUT, the board damaged was the power/relay board which has no sensitive electronics on it and a couple of tracks which were blown off i successfully soldered out.

The particular board is situated at the left hand side at the top behind the facia, looks like it comes as a complete assembly with transformer etc but with care can be unclipped from it’s mounting on the assembly to get access to the tracks.

    HTH?

    That’s it’s normal operation 😉

Re: How to identify the model of my fridge/freezer..

Unfortunately it probably will be a problem 😕

Like most refrigeration manufacturers they have a plethora of models all with different styles/fittings etc. It’s highly likely you can’t replace the seal as an individual item (carefully ‘peel back’ part of the seal to look underneath it, if you can see screws holding the liner to the outer door then you’re in luck) If the seal can’t be replaced then you’re looking at a whole new door and the handle will be part of the styling which will be unique to your model.

IMO your only chance, and slim it is, is to find an engineer who’s seen a lot of these to see if he could identify it for you.

You could try posting some clear pics on here, you never know someone may be able to identify it but i wouldn’t hold much hope i’m afraid. 😕

Or to put it into context….when the kids make a snowman and it hangs around on the lawn for at least a couple of days after the snow has gone, well you prolly have something the size of a breeze block at about -30c in the back of your freezer 😉

    Neither i would suggest 😆

It’s not unknown for these to give a fault indication then lock out even when no fault is apparent, or even give a spurious fault indication for that matter…all you can do is check the obvious (earth faults etc), ohhh and the dispenser solenoid…then replace the pcb 😉

If the machine has successfully drained then it will be either the water indicator, the pcb or the wiring between the two. The use of a multimeter can establish the integrity/operation of the first and last but if they’re functioning correctly that only leaves the pcb i’m afraid 😕

Ok thanks Ken, we have room for a few more scrappers so we’ll hang on until he returns 😉

(I hope he brings us all back a suntan and a hangover 😆 )

    Re: whirlpool fridge/freezer

The cooling fan motors are usually synchronous motors (no capacitors) and it’s not unknown to get a bearing failure in one especially when it’s been running hot for ages.

Have you had a look at it’s rating?…you can get universal fan motors which will do the job quite happily and probably a whole lot cheaper than the manufacturers gen part.

If you send all the details to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk i’m sure something would be sourced for you 😉

Re: Need a 3 quarter size fridge.

I’m not aware of any TBH, they usually go from tabletop to under worktop size.

The under worktop size might do the job if you have room above the worktop…the units themselves will certainly cope with the weight of it no problem and i have seen this many times, usually in offices 😉

    Re: Taking the WEEE?

What i’m getting at is the fact that we have a number of scrap machines now and we’re ready to dispose of them, so do we ;-

    1. Join Valpak (last resort)

    2. Take to/arrange collection from a local authorised scarp dealer and obtain our own evidence

    3. Speak directly to DHL to arrange collection of scrap and notify them and ISE of the arranged scheme between them so the evidence can go to ISE

    4. Speak to John for him to arrange the whole DHL collection and evidence thing

Don’t mind the last three and if the last two are not worthwhile for ISE because of the administration/benefit position then so be it…we’d just like some direction i suppose 😉

Which bit Ken, notify ISE about a DHL collection, or the DHL scheme is dead?

    S.

If it was an overfill (for whatever reason) then the white deposit would be inside the clear overflow pipes too? Besides it would take really quite a lot of washing up water to cause an overflow IMO, (like two or three pints maybe) …don’t forget it will be extremely diluted washing up liquid in the water?

At least moving the drain out will completely eliminate that problem 😀

Understand the frustration though…lost count of the number of times i’ve heard ‘but it always goes wrong when i do it’ from the customer 😆

I’d still say hang in there and witness the fault 😉
