ParticipantRe: Free Call-Out Charges – Good business sense?
Next door neighbour collared me last night, recently moved in.
Asked me to look at his dryer as it broke down 2 weeks after the last guys had a look at it. Creda condenser dryer no heat.
He had to take the dryer into the shop, it took them a couple of days and they….changed the stat…no doo doo sherlock. No mention of cleaning condenser, letting it finish the programme, and they charged him £70 😯 .
A minute chatting found that they check the clothes and stop the dryer The repair will be £75 ‘cos I have to attend the appliance :rotfl: .

ParticipantRe: Twin tubs – Anybody still making them?
Went to a Velo the other week and if truth be told the nicest thing about it was the customers own 13a plug, nice see through thing it was. The Velo….utter cack.
There is another thread somewhere and i’m sure that the Qualtex one is the same beast. Spares obsolete after 3 years as well.

ParticipantRe: Attractive Blonde
I’ve posted this one years ago but it’s worth another giggle.
‘Nother blonde, me and oppo installing a machine in a newish kitchen where the hoses trailed through the back of two cupboards.
String tied to hoses pulled through back of units.
I’m over the units taking the plug off, my oppo is under the worktop trying to feed the hoses through the small hole in the side of the first unit when said customer chirps up with…
‘If you want me to give anything a tug let me know’ 😯
Cue dull thud as workmate hits his head on the worktop. :rotfl:

When taking call I always ask where they saw the advert. It always starts a bout of depression when they say I got your advert off the Internet and its a such and such fault. Then tell me what I need and ‘I priced up the part and ………’
‘Let me stop you there sir!

Always offer them a sticker on the backing so they can stick it in their phone book. Exept for one old dear I went back to, who pointed out she’d kept my sticker in the phone book like i suggested. Literally, Bt Phone Book right under my ad :rolls: And she’s 92 you know!!

If they then say that this is still a call out charge I ask them this.
When you go to work do you charge your employer a call out charge to arrive at your place of work ? No ? Well you natrually require payment once you start work don’t you.
Nicely put, a carefully worded reply to those lovely people who expect a call out charge to include everything but fitting a part.
