The countries full of chancers and idiots ,i had one before xmas fitted a new heater to a samsung american because it was o/c priced first and accepted, got a call a few days later saying fridge not cold ,returned to find the fan had packed up ,had one on the van so not wanting to get into an argument decided to fit f.o.c left the old one with the mrs of the house and left ,not happy i had to give a part away but thinking at least he wont be moaning about an extra charge when he gets in from work or so i thought :rolls: .He rings the next day to rant its all working but not happy as the fan i had fitted before was clearly second hand ,office refer him to his invoice which clearly states that it was a defrost heater that was replaced and not a fan motor and it had failed after we left but had been changed as a gesture of goodwill f.o.c .Now at this point you would think he would realise his mistake and apologise but not this fella ,he then launches into a further rant about how he had been ripped off and no company can afford to give parts away f.o.c and he is going to take it further, trading standards etc,etc ,as the office refused to get into an argument with him he eventually put the phone down on them not to be heard from again …bizarre some people…Cras

The liars ……Been trying to arrange to fit a thermostat to an elderly cooker ordered specially two weeks ago, constant phone calls and left messages on land line and mobile from the office are met with silence. Finally decided yesterday to call there bluff and sent them a text from my mobile stating the part would be returned to wholesaler on monday for a credit if i didnt hear anything ,within an hour we have a callon land line from said now stroppy customer saying that they have been waiting for two weeks to have a part fitted but nobody has been in touch and that she can only ring and leave messages after 5pm when we are closed but nobody rings her back ……phone is transferred to a mobile and answered after 5pm up until 9pm everyday ………not thought this lie through really had she .. 🙂

Called to diagnose a mouldy door seal last week on a hotpoint integ washer recommend replacement ,ring customer half hour before attending as requested so he can pop out of work and return to find the door seal supplied by pne at connect is wrong (they had a choice of two ) remove old door seal and agree with customer that we will match it up and return saturday between 8-10 to fit door seal ,engineer leaves .10 minutes later we ring customer to confirm appointment and that we have sourced the right seal customer asks for money off as he has been messed around and is refused ,after a lot of arguing his final words to the office are “I will have to see how i want to proceed” and puts the phone down .Wait the rest of Thursday all yesterday and today until 10am and guess what ………….we have a phone call “i was expecting an engineer between 8-10 and he hasnt shown up ,told that he hadnt actually booked the call he kicks off big time and when he said i will have to see how to proceed what he actually meant was how he was going to proceed with the complaint …..oh f****ing mind readers are we 👿 .Up shot is the first time in twenty eight years i have refunded call out charge and told him to find somebody else …

Thanks for the reply Jackal, Martin have tried to sort this out amicably and the amount i have sent him is roughly what my excess is anyway and when i mentioned this he was not willing to pass on his insurance details ,not heard anymore but if it comes back i will contact my insurers Thanks Cras

I find the worst are the office types who live in large houses and mortgaged to the hilt,a whiff of a claim and there on to it. Im currently dealing with a scratch on a stone floor that could be argued that both the engineer and the householder are equally responsible for as the householder gave the engineer a hand lifting out a cooker and it was his end that got scratched .However as a reputable company we try and help them out sending a floor restoration expert who can repair it for £250 which we will pay for .Received a quote for £2600 the other day from the customer for ripping up the floor and relaying a new one,as he doesnt think the repair will look right all this for a scratch around 6 inches long. Just crazy . Cras.

Customer on the phone at the weekend “my bosch washer has stopped turning you fitted brushes two years ago and charged me £75 which i thought was very expensive at the time and i am not happy that it has only lasted such a short time ” after a conversation where we tell her the call out charges etc she says “i am not paying that infact i want it repairing at a much reduced rate “,she then reads out the date on the invoice during her moaning stating “i dont think it is very good that a repair done in 2009 has only lasted this long ” we then point out that it is four years ago and not two as she stated ,she says “well three and three quarters actually ” :rolls: ….probably the most unjustifiable complaint ever …unless you know otherwise 😆

Cheers ,two boards are carried on each van ,i am saying nothing :rolls: i have to work with him for some considerable time 🙂 we live and learn . I have been informed by a relative that owns a ceramic tile business that travertine can be sanded and resealed ,they also sell travertine repair kits ,he thinks its totally unnecessary to replace the whole floor for such a small area of damage .Cras

Agreed any appliance that costs a fair bit,is to bulky for the customer to replace by simply nipping down to currys and squeeze a replacement into the family hatch back and goes wrong every now and then is surely what we are all craving for 🙂
