Got to say i ran around for years doing free estimates ,lost count of the times that i came in spitting feathers at a customers brass neck ,i was working long hours but did make a living just not the kind of living that i thought i should be earning for the hours put in .Around four years ago i decided enough was enough and i started charging a fee for diagnosis mainly because i wanted to be time richer ,i have to say it has been the best move i ever did not only have i got more time to myself but i have more cash in the bank ,my customers are of a better class and i know longer have to deal with the world owes me a living type of person .I have been able to replace both my vans with new ones and noticed that the mileage on both has dropped from around 25000 to 21000 a year . Have i lost customers ? yes but on the whole just the ones that used to waste my time Cras

Customer “Can you call and look at my washer “, “yes we charge £35 to diagnose the fault, payable on the day of the engineers visit” . Customer “what happens if the repair cost is less than £35” :rolls:

Re: Negative feedback on repair services

Lots of people hold this view until there machine goes wrong then its an emergency and as long as you can attend quickly and repair the machine quickly its amazing how they change there tune ,saves them the hassle of buying new one 🙂 and i agree target the more affluent areas .Cras

With people like this ask them to get a quote from the manufacturer and tell them if they are cheaper you will refund the difference ,have said this a few times over the years and funnily enough have never heard any thing else 😉 Cras

Was starting to feel a little left out then had my first call yesterday a Samsung american ,told them my charges and payment up front before they could say much .Funnily enough they only pay on completion apparently…ah if only it was only true :rolls:

Thanks for the reply ,no this just stops no flashing lights ,i cant remember how high the water is but i will check .I have read an older post with the same fault stating it also could be the heating element even though the water is warm when it stops so im going back to check that ,any thoughts Thanks Cras

Sent a bill out in the post wednesday after a customer refused to pay our call out charge despite being told what was payable at the time of booking ,Idiot rings today and after being explained to very politely why the bill had been sent he threatened to come over and sort out my employee …….a 65 year old woman 😯 …….matter of principle now ,if he had kept quite i would have probably written it off ,tosser
