Re: Hotpoint Mistral Plus (model 8596P) Fridge Freezer Temp

OK lets clarify abit – firstly assuming that you have removed the dust etc from the black heat exchanger in the bottom (condenser) the base fan should run all the time. If it is not running the appliance can not get rid of the heat and thereby will not get down to temp within the ff. So if fan is duff change it. Having changed it, run up the unit, check the heat exchanger is hot and watch the internal temperature go down (with the doors shut) If you cant get it below -6C the internal fan will not come on and to be honest you should look for a fridge engineer to bail you out. If you require someone, make sure they are familiar with this model. A link on the home page will get you a member of this forum if covered. Best of luck – Ian.

Re: Hotpoint Mistral Plus (model 8596P) Fridge Freezer Temp

Just to add to the aforemention – With the fridge/freezer unplugged, remove the back cover and vacuum out the black grill in the base. Having done that (leaving cover off) reconnect appliance. Check that base fan is running. Now, when the motor (compressor) starts to run, check the pipe going into the black base grill area (after about 5 mins) and see if it is warming up – warning – it may get hot, so be careful. If it is hot, leave the ff running and see if the temperature comes down in the freezer. From memory the internal fan will not switch on unless the freezer temperature is in excess of -6C. If the temp is going toward the set temp (without the fast freeze being on) you may have cured the problem – however if you still have a failure to get down to temp you may have a shortage of refrigerant or a duff compressor. If you can get the freezer down to the correct temp but the fridge is way out, you suspect the thermistors, if the cooling is suspect then perhaps the refrigerant/compressor. Good luck and if you need further help theres always good advice on the forum.

    Re: Scandinova Fridge not working

    Hi

From what you have told us it is likely to be one of the following-

    a. short of refrigerant

    b. a defective compressor

As its a tall fridge it is worth you contacting a trade member of this forum via repairs@ section. Best of luck.

Hi – DAD stands for Domestic Appliance Distributuion they deliver to us in Boston via Grantham and Sleaford so I would guess they would also come out your way. Weve been dealing with them for about 5 years – No problems sofar and they do a fairly extensive range.

Been there done that one – I hope that some management in Merloni have time to read the above comments and ponder. Not that they will do that for long – a couple of days on the vans for some, would perhaps change the way they view their customer interface reps.

    Re: Servis UK Problem

As a company that carries out work on behalf of Servis UK it might be valid to reiterate an earlier point. When you purchase an appliance of whatever make, it is the responsibility of the RETAILER to resolve any problems. This small point is usually misunderstood. The retailer is the one who has taken your money not the manufacturer. The problem that those in the repair field have, is that we repair on behalf of the manufacturer but find ourselves from a practical point between the retailer and the customer. We have no authority to scrap the customers machine but can only report back our suggestions. As a final thought, the failure rate currently with Servis machines, is no greater than that of similarly priced appliances.

    Re: Revenue Report

I like the look of alot of the ideas, but without looking to be uncharitable to fellow members, the only people that should be getting benefit from much of this, is those that subscribe to UKW. I appreciate that Ken has never wanted to coerce people into joining the subscription area, but the success of UKW means that shortly the time will arrive where levels of membership might be considered. The amazing progress of UKW has meant to many, FREE salvation at a time of most need, fellow strugglers to chat to, technical information across the manufacturer range and info about dodgy work providers. Where else is such a FREE service available?? The monies paid by subscribers should be used to improve the subscribers lot (after all we don’t pay much) If the rest realize they are missing out, perhaps they will then subscribe, thence as my old nan used to say ‘more money more honey’ . The greatest force in our business since the coal fired copper lives again!!!

Ken – Is there any mileage in setting up a confidential area for technical requests/ manufacturer information that would allow those with concerns to input advice to those that need it.
