ModeratorRe: Servis M3022/M
Hi this door seal catching is quite common even with the genuine door seal – I usually run the machine on spin with no water in and let the edge of the tub chop off the excess. On the subject of tight shafts if you get stuck the spider is available as a seperate item – although its not advertised by Servis as being avail. If you want further info PM me.

Now why not go to your local wholesaler and buy a car tyre inflator which feeds from the cigarette lighter socket. Cost about a fiver and guaranteed for 12 months. Usually they come with a couple of adaptors for airbeds and footballs

ModeratorRe: Servis Quartz Power Boad Part No 4035
Thanks Dave – Ive had a chat with them already, but the job on a 15 year old washer wont stand the £50 they want for the board. Hoping that someone has an old board kicking about. Thanks anyway.

ModeratorRe: fitting a new evaporator door to a LEC
Hi – This should work for you. Take a small screwdriver and push the central pin of the rivett into the thermostat housing. Then carefully with a knife remove the two rivetts outwards. Remove the whole evaporator door and its frame. Replace whatever damaged items you have to and refit in reverse. If you have spare pins use them, if not silicone the rivetts in their holes. Good luck

Strange you mentioned that, I thought of that one but having looked at the thing realised it was a freezer. Wouldn’t have been so bad but the customer was standing next to me – felt a right prat!!

Hi – This indicates that there is a problem with the temperature sensing. You need to get an engineer out to have a look at it for you. If you look at the ‘repairs@’ section that should give you a UKW member that may be able to help you out. Alternatively, post your postcode and someone will contact you. Good luck – Ian.

You should be able to get a set from Dave Conway our resident fixer/supplier of spares. If you get stuck please give me a PM and I’ll send you a set but please try Dave first.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Mistrall Plus 8596 Fault – Advice Requested
Hi these are quite a good machine and as long as the door seals are not damaged it might be worth you having it fixed. Remember if you have the compressor done you should get a 12 month guarantee on the repair. Other than door seals, thermistors and fan motors they are super if working correctly.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint Mistral Plus (model 8596P) Fridge Freezer Temp
Hi again – Rob has a valid point here but until you get the condenser fan working (note the condenser fan should be running when the compressor is going) and without a fridge engineer at your shoulder I would suggest that you try this – take off the front lower grill and borrow or steal a fan heater. Put the blower on full (no heat) and point it into the condenser then check the temperatures. If they go down and stay down (the default settings on this are fridge + 2C, freezer preset at -20C) then your fault is the condenser fan, if however they go down and then start to rise and compressor is running all the time you are either short of gas or the compressor is duff. With either of the later you need a fridge qualified engineer.
