    Re: LG error code CD

CD – can last up to 4 hours – its means that the cloths have finished drying and you can swith the machine off even though CD is displayed. The door will release 2 minutes after that. If clothes come out wet then it means the customer has put more than a half load in. ie If the washer is set to dry after the wash cycle it will continue from wash into dry cycle automatically – the appliance assumes that the customer has only filled the appliance with half a load. Hope that helps

    Re: DSG/RepairCare Rate Cuts

I have watched with fascination the posts from Lee8 for sometime with either surprise or humour but this last lot has really got up my nose. Perhaps prior to opening your mouth you would consider the time and energy those of us who have been with UKW and subsequently the WTA right from the start, have put into this organisation. The wrangling with government departments or agencies that represent them, the hours spent on the phone (at our cost) or sending letters to clarify things and the months spent organising the bi-annual meetings. All this time has been given freely in the hope that we can establish a better white goods industry. Perhaps worthy of note is the fundraising to cover the costs of both the UKW/WTA websites and the free lunches to the engineers, manufacturers and spares companies that attend these meetings. When we started this off there was 15 of us at Peterborough now we exceed 1200+ perhaps the numbers speak for themselves, at the start our critics said we couldn’t do this but we have proved them wrong and I guess will continue to do so. If you have something constructive to say please feel free to join the debate – otherwise :walk:

Tim – if you can get it to Bryans that would be great (if thats OK with you Bryan) and I’ll pick it up from him at the meeting. To clarify, we’ve got one at home which is why I’m interested.

Just so we don’t screw this up by all having a go I have through NESN asked for a name for the guy who set up the NESN contract from DSG. If I can get him to come along to the meeting he might be able to clarify the position of this from DSGs angle.

Where are you – I’ll take it if you aren’t too far away to cross-load it if you’re coming to the meeting.

Likely to be the rear drum bearing spider that will need replacing. A kit is available from the shop to the left 😀

Re: Yet another Hotpoint Mistral Plus (frost free) temp prob

Before you go down the route of changing the thermistors, do this – remove the top baffle that is in the fridge compartment and leave it with the cables connected and hanging. Then see if the temperature in the fridge goes down. If it doesnt then change the thermistors green/yellow as this is the cheapest option, if this doesnt work you have a pcb fault.

lol – from what I remember and we still do work for NESN, they are only taking £7/£9 for each call with RC taking £17. They have no hassle with parts either having passed it to Qualtex. Buggered if I know whats going on but I’ll keep taking their money and they are quite flexible if they can’t source the parts but you can. 8)

Re: F-DEF ERROR on Samsung RS21

Fridge defrost error – means that the appliance has not defrosted within the allocated time frame. You need to check the defrost heater, drain heater, thermal fuse and sensor. Most common with this is a saturated evaporator cover. So remove cover and see what you find.

Re: Yet another Hotpoint Mistral Plus (frost free) temp prob

Firstly take out the drawers in the freezer, remove the back panel inside and at back of freezer compartment. See if the evaporator (heat exchanger) is blocked with ice, if so defrost it off checking that the supply and return pipes leading up the back into the fridge are clear of ice. Once and if this is clear check that the internal fan is running, it will not start until the temp in freezer is -6C so you may have to wait awhile. At the back check that when the motor (compressor) is running the adjacent fan is also going. If all of these are OK you are either short of gas or you have a compressor fault and will need a service engineer. The thermistors are colour coded green, yellow and white and are in the freezer cavity behind the back cover. Good luck and power off when you take it apart please.

Re: Buying New Machine (Washing Machine Guide Help Appreciat

In the round selecting an appliance is fairly straight forward – look at the labour guarantee, a manufacturer will only warranty the labour on a machine if he thinks he will not have to pay a service engineer to go out and fix it. Most decent appliances will have a minimum of 2 years labour warranty as the manufacturer expects the appliance to last, say 4 years before a callout. Forget about free parts in the first 5 years, if the part costs you £0.10p but you have to spend £100 on call out you feel robbed. Therefore look at what is on offer, Miele very good appliance but how long is the warranty, ISE equally good 10 years parts & labour. LG not quite so good but not quite so expensive. Horses for courses really. So Miele good appliance but expensive to repair outside of warranty. ISE good appliance much cheaper to repair outside of warranty. LG good appliance, not so reliable and average price to repair outside of warranty. The choice is yours – good luck.
