There are two probes in the appliance, one that measures ambient temp and one that measures evaporator temp – and yes they are called probes.

The issue was with the mains transformer on the original board. This was changed – the way to tell if you have got the right one is – Old type of board has a red transformer on it, new one has yellow (when last I looked) one.

Assuming that we are going down the right route and it is a Merloni (Indesit) machine there are two heaters on in the top that heats the drying air and one at the bottom of the tub that heats the washing water. You need to check the latter one – power off first. 😆

This appliance has three different modules fitted to it, need the serial number as the sequence is different depending on which of the modules it is.

Neither fish nor fowl then, I look forward to seeing it at the meeting and whilst I acknowledge that you wanted out of the budget market there is still a need for one.

When you say it fills, then empties, then stops, how long do you wait at the stop point? These have a delay after the stop to allow the ping pong ball in the sump to float to the top. Delay can be up to 3 minutes but usually about 1 min. Otherwise as suggested earlier its the module – you can also get the fault that the door wont open on initial test.

Pauline, This can be a whole number of things from a dodgy thermostat through a shortage of refrigerant to a design fault. It would be really helpful if you could send a picture of it (the ice formation) to admin@ukwhitegoods.co.uk so we can see what you are worried about.
