Re: Fidge freezer door Legal help please

I’ve had this one before too – had a customer who we gave an opinion to about her appliance some years ago, some short weeks later I had a call from trading standards saying they had complained. I indicated that it was an opinion and there had been no charge, at which point TS said they had no further interest. As Ken said they are trying it on, perhaps if you told them that they were going to be charged for your meeting (time lost etc) they would reconsider 😆

Re: Discounted Fuel For The WTA

I thought they were going to send out emails once a week to tell us what their price was? Sofar I have been unable to use the card because the pump price has been cheaper.

John – Changing the thermostat is not too much of a job as long as you take things in stages with the power off. However, what you need to do is check and see if the appliance is switching on and off at all. On this unit the thermostat measures the temperature in the fridge although the priority cooling is in the freezer. If the temp in the fridge is not cold enough it could equally be that the compressor is failing or that the appliance is short of refrigerant. Equally, if your ventilation is not good, being a built in this could also be the cause.

    Re: D&G sign up

Pup – You have to remember that D&G do things on a tier system. Those that are first tier get the majority of the work, those on second tier get most of what remains and the remaining tiers get whats left. Bearing in mind that you are around London area you may have to wait quite sometime before you get anything. Also take on board that many of the manufacturers have already got contractual agreements with D&G which funnel their brand work to their own service network. It doesn’t leave much for those at the end of the food chain.

Quick query is it the internal fan motor that is running all the time or the compressor at the back??

Re: Hotpoint FFA71 Compressor constantly running

Firstly this appliance has embedded thermistors, ie they are not replaceable. However, before condemning it check the following – take of the base covers off (power off please) and vacuum out the dust and then fully defrost the unit with the doors open for at least 48 hours. After this restart the machine and see what happens. If you still have a problem I would suggest either it is short of refrigerant or you have a failing compressor.

Re: How to measure fridge temperature

This is another method that is used within the trade. Get a block of lard and place it in the fridge. After about 12 hours stick you temperature probe into the lard and measure its core temp – after all its the temperature of the product that is important not the air temp.
