Hi murrad,
It has most likely taken out the thermostat when the element blew, this is not unusual.
It is also pssible that the selector switch that the stat piggy back’s onto may also be damaged because the elements really go with a bang sometimes when they go 🙄Remember power off 😉

Hi,
Have you checked that it is pumping out ok and that there are no blockages in the pump.
Remember to pull the power plug out before any investigations 😉

That concept was and still is the only long term solution, if we are to remain as viable independents within this industry. The only other option is to see the whole trade franchised out between the manufacturers and the insurance company’s.
Even the larger independents are not isolated or safe from what is happening. It’s time to wake up an smell the coffee.
In all fairness the brighter minds amongst us saw this coming and tried to promote the answer to our own trade association but it was rejected there by the powers that be because it was felt that a trade association should not get it’s self involved as a work provider.
Even though a great deal of time effort and commitment had been shown and actually culminated in bringing us the MFI work which is to this day is still the best paid work that most of us still have.
This view point I hasten to add was not one held by myself. The sad fact is, that its rejection was never actually put to a vote at an AGM just an arbitory decision taken by a select few.
It seems to me that it doesn’t matter what size you are eventually your turn will come as you have your work and engineers poached away as has already happened by the likes of B.G.
Mark my words that at some stage in the future CDSL will get round to doing the same thing.
I say again it’s either a case of united we stand or divided we will most definitely eventually fall.

Might be time to start buying your spares elsewhere lads to show how pissed off we all are about a spares wholesaler who not only sells direct to the public but now want’s to take your work away too.
I say vote with your spares orders and move e’m elsewhere.

Remember lads that you guy’s working together in this war room in no small way helped to topple another meglomaniac in the form of trubshwaw.
That was when we were all working together as a team. We have simply got to get back to that level of mutual support, to tackle the new dictators emerging at cdsl.
It is not impossible, if we work together. the bigger they are the harder they fall. This growing conglomerate is the biggest threat yet to the independant trade and is a battle that we have to win.

ModeratorRe: Miele or Bosch? Integrated or free-standing?
You’ll get a top end bosch for the price of a bottom end miele. That said miele are very well made but then so are the top end bosch.
You also get more for your buck’s with freestanding than you do for a comparable intergrated.HTH

ModeratorRe: UKW CHARTER (amendments)
If we are all happy with part 3 amendments could I then suggest that Chris does a script check of part 4. and Alex does one of part 5.
That way we can show that the whole A.C. has not just accepted an edict from on high but has checked every word and line before rattifying it .Sean

johnmac11 wrote:All the above in part 1+2 looks fine to me so if there is no objection from anyone can we assume that it will be eventually be published as above?
Now on part 3
When dealing with calls the member should adhere to the following points:
1. Contact the customer at the earliest time when call passed by fax/email, generally within 1 working day is acceptable.
how about changing this to make it simpler to “When calls are passed to the member via fax or email the customer should be contacted to confirm call within one working day”
I think this means if you contact a cutomer by phone and they have an answer phone then leave a message to say that you called/tried to contact them. Rather than trying to arrange an appointment by answer machine
2. If an answering service is available for the customer leave a message advising of your call.
I have found in the past that when you do this it is guaranteed that when you go to the customer’s house there is no one home. What I do when I get an answering machine is to leave a message asking the customer to call me to confirm the date of the call
3 ,4 and 5 No problems in my view with any of these
Your comments please gents?
Can we have a show of hands on sections one and two being accepted?
If sections 1 and 2 are acceptable to all we need to get on and get 3,4 and 5 ratified soon, its not long till Sibson!!John
Other than the suggested amendment’s that john has suggested are there any other remarks from council Sean

Just so we know where we are at. Can I take it that we are all agreed on parts 1 & 2 amended drafts. so we can move on, just waiting for Chris as I too can live with it as it stands.
Part 2 (Amended Draft)1. Shall always endeavor to remain pleasant and polite to customers at all times.
2. Should treat customers with courtesy and respect.
3. Should remain as open and transparent as commercially possible with customers
4. Will do as much as possible to accommodate the customer’s wishes and preferences
5. Contact numbers must be manned during office hours or an answering service made available, answering service also available out of office hours wherever possible.
6. Messages left by customers must be answered within 1 working dayDel
ModeratorRe: Bosch KGU3201 freezer problems
Hi Pugwash,
First of all is your appliance the frost free type or the conventional ?
If it is the conventional type it may well be loss of refrigerant/weak compressor Which is a job for an expert or if it is frost free it could be that the evaporator is totally chocked with ice.I sometimes wish that manufacturers of frost free fridge freezers had never put fast freeze switches on.
It seems to me that loads of people fall into the trap of thinking that switching on the fast freeze button will sort the problem out, when nine times out of ten it just makes things worse. The other big lie that they managed to sell, is the term ‘frost free’ When what they should have called it was ‘hidden frost’, as without frost, things simply do not get cold.
What happens is that the Evaporator ( i.e. the frost generating component for want of a better term) section which is hidden behind the rear of the internal wall of the freezer compartment, with over use of the fast freeze switch/button becomes totally blocked with ice. and as it relies on air being forced through and over it’s fins by a fan, to send supper chilled air onto the food to keep it frozen. The air cannot then blow through the fins as they have become blocked with ice
I’m sorry if my explanation is not very easy to understand but it is not very easy to explan in a post.
Suffice to say that the best course of action is to remove the food to alternative safe storage and totally defrost the appliance which may very well mean switching it off and leaving the doors open for a full 24 hrs.
With a few towels put down on the floor to soak up any excess defrost water. When you turn the appliance back on do not use the fast freeze buton just allow it to reach it’s normal operating tempreture automatically. This may very well sort the problem out. If that does not work then it is a job for an expert i’m affraid and your first port of call should be Repairs@ link on the front page of this site.

Gary phoned today regarding the Hob unit set into the expensive worktops…he got back from his holidays yesterday. Anyway no problems now getting two calls, just close the original call as fixed without parts and create recall. Then inform Gary of the “c” number and he removes recall, therefore 2 x calls for 1 job.
Easy .
I do know RF intervened but Gary does not know I know. But the stage is set, if you don’t stick to your guns you won’t get.
Still got RF coming to see me but he’s already told me whatever the problems he can solve them. And so it seems he has! At least this time around, I think Gary has had his wings clipped a bit, probably make him twice as keen.
Kevin
Great news Kev but is this across the board (i.e. for everyone in the network) or a one off deal for those with enough clout to pull it off ? It will be interestin’ to see. 😉

Kev,
I’m usually the first one to bang the ‘TO MANY FREEBIES’ drum but even a numb scull like me is beginin’ to see that if we can make are system the only one worth using, Then just like the windows platform is to computers this is how ken see’s UKW’s A.C.H. being to the whitegoods trade.
Everyone will be so used to using it that they wont want to use anything else they will be already using a beta version of A.C.H. before they know it. I think Ken is just using the Bill Gates model. IBM floated Bill Gates business and P&G are floating ours.
Ken have i got the basic gist of it ?
