    Re: ISE2 & 10 tech info

    Hi Lads

The fact of the matter is that its far easier to get finnished product from manufacturers than it is to get tech and spares info.

The other thing is if you can actually remember the proto type of the 1st ISE 5 was different to what we actually got. The facia ended up a complete mirror image of the production model we actually recieved.

I wont bore you with the cost and time involved in producing manuals but suffice to say that we only get one shot at it and we want to get it right for you.

Rest assured that we will always continue to back up our guys in the field, its the ethos of what we are about. believe it or not the second we decide to go with a new product, the very first thing I always ask for is the tech and spares info.

You’ll be pleased to hear that we have almost completed the manual for the ISE 10, theres just a little tidying up and the spares list to left to do. The only reason we have this Tech Info is the fact that Ken and I went to the factory in Sweden a few weeks ago and fetched it back with us or we would still be waiting for our importers to get it for us. All this I hasten to add is after 6 months of begging and pleading.

We are still repeatedly enquiring about info on the ISE 2 and we will keep badgering them till we get it.

In a perfect world we should be able to aquire this info with the proto types but manufacturers like to see you shift a few containers of their product first to see if you are serious before they release the family jewels ie Tech Info.

Bear with us Lads we will get there. I know we are not as quick as you’d like. The truth is that we are not as quick as I would like.

We have already planned to do the manuals in downloads, dvd, and print formats as a matter of urgency.

There’s an organisation called TAF who have already done a lot of groundwork here. It might be worth a gander. Let’s face it with a name like TAF it’s got to be a job for a guy from south wales ……….LOL

    Hi Ade

A lot of this was tried in the early days of UKW with varying degrees of success. For the most part guys can be very slow on the up take.
By all means get some quotes but it can be very frustrating when you find a cracking idea or deal and nobody wants to know.

Ken managed to get some brilliant deals but very few took them up.

Ade, dont start gettin’ to sensitive about the STFU bit. I have had it that often I was thinking of having my Surname changed to it.

With regards CDSL I have more reason than most for not wanting them involved because I’ve seen how they work up close.

In a nut shell, they only like playing the game, if they own the ball.

That said, I’ve had to bury my own personal feelings on several occasions for the greater good of the trade, when we have tried to work with them on things like, Training initatves, Trying to drag Dasa out of the dark ages, Detergent technology training etc.

Easyest thing is to put you in charge of asking them if they want to be involved with the WTA. Dont badger them though and dont be surprised if you get blanked by them.

I can’t see why they would want to be just another associate member of the WTA when they already have a controling interest in DASA.

Some people say that this is largely due to the fact, that they are the current chairmans biggest work provider but I’m sure that Walter doesn’t let this fact influence him in any way :rolls:

    Re: Articles Thread

    Found two :-

Costs will be explained upfront before the engineer calls with a good indication of what the repairer expects the costs to be and parts if it is possible. Please not that it isn’t possible to be entirely accurate here over the phone without seeing the appliance and properly assessing the failure, but most repairers will try to give you an idea of costs

Most repairers follow these points as a matter of course and will be as helpful as they can possibly be as they wish to resolve yoru issue, after all, that is how they make a living.

    Re: Members list

We need to ask and leave it up to the individual in all fairness.
From my own personal view I feel it would be hard to promote any organisation who’s members are too frightened to declare their association with it.

As I say leave it up each person to make their own decision.

    Re: WTA Engineer Register

Who said there were no repercussions about people who don’t abide by the Charter or Code of Practice.

There has already been a case where a UKW member has been struck off RepairS@ for not abiding by the Charter. The customer and member in question were kept fully informed during the arbitration process. After careful consideration by the A.C. a course of action was required of the member who chose not to abide by the decision taken by the A.C. and was removed from Repairs@ as a result.

The customer was also informed of this action and was more than satisfied with action taken.

The difference between us and Dasa is the fact that we did not go on telly and slag off a member off our own trade thereby blackening the whole trade as a result.

You have to understand that Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will the WTA be. The only way you could be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure of every member would be to physically call round to every member and carry out a full service provision audit.

Some how I don’t think the Β£60 per annum WTA membership fee will quite stretch to this, so we have to take people on trust and self declaration to the charter has to be the best place to start.

I fully realise that things are not proceeding as fast as you would like but we are still finding our feet. What has already been created in a few short moths is light speed compared to anyone else in our trade.

There are important jobs for us all to do. A major one, is one you already posed yourself ie ‘Who should we seek recognition from?’
If we could get our code of practice recognised by the O.F.T. then that would really be a feather in our cap. But it is a minimum of a two year
obstacle course worthy of the SAS. These are the things we have to accomplish to be taken seriously

Are we up for the long hard challenge or is it just badges and short term fixes like DASA.
