    Re: Panasonic Microwave

Sorry for taking so long over this, actually forgot about it.
Spot on with the diagnosis Bryan, the magnetron was faulty and it took out the inverter.
    Thanks for the help.

Is the start light flashing an error code? If not then my money goes on a faulty module.
NTC is the most common start up fault followed by the pressure switch and flow meter connections.

Aha, I can answer this one 😛
Had this a little while back. If I remember rightly it’s an Indesit and there’s a second set of fault codes listed.
2nd light a heating problem. I found the heater duff on the one I did.
    Hope this helps.

    Re: Whirlpool ADG7540 Dishwasher

Kevin is right, the flowmeter (water wheel) sends pulses to the module, if it doesn’t get enough pulses it aborts the fill. At the same time the pressure switch operates and sends a signal to the module when a set amount of water has entered the cavity. If it takes too long to operate the pressure switch it again aborts.
Check the connector to the flowmeter, pull it off, tighten it and plug it back on is all it normally needs. Make sure the pressure switch isn’t gunged up.
I’ve also had this problem where the water flow has been too low, make sure there is good pressure and flow at the end of the hose.
    Hope this helps.

Ooooppssssss. 😳 Sorry, was busy answering dishwasher posts, thought this was another one.
Penguin is right, door hinge at fault as regards not operating the interlock.
If the door has moved far enough to the left it will also begin to jam.
Ta for that Penguin, I’ll try to stay awake for the rest of the night. 😛

Think I know what you’re getting at. I had a similar fault with a Whirlpool some time back. Turned out to be a blocked sieve which prevented the water getting back to the pump quick enough.

Have to agree, my money is F4 too.
If cleaning the pressure switch doesn’t work check the drain hose is high enough to prevent the water draining out and if the hose is into a stand pipe make sure it’s not too far in and syphoning.

Take the baskets out and try it. If it closes and opens ok your problem lies with the top basket not locating onto the water connection at the back of the cavity.

Fraid so Dave, I left the Appliance Centre in February and went to work for BG. Don’t want to say too much, I’ll email you details.

Thanks Iadom, spot on with the advice and the circuit diagram was extremely helpful.
Went back to this thing today and sat down and watched it do it’s stuff. It appears to reverse regularly when it’s on the cool down periods but hardly ever when it’s heating.
Have to admit, I’ve not come across this before, hardly ever worked on anything other than Whirlpool stuff so still learning about the rest. Sometimes think some of the stuff should be on the Antiques Roadshow:P
Don’t know what I’d do without the advice and help on here.
    Thanks everyone 😀

    Re: Powder detergent blocking drains

    Hiyas,
I’ve been reading all the various posts regarding the use of vinegar, chemicals etc to clean out various appliances. I’ve also read with interest the posts about detergent training. How I wish I could have that sort of training, mind you, I wish I could get any sort of training these days but that’s another story.
I come across a lot of machines that are “gunged up” or smelly and I’d love to know what the best way of cleaning these up is. I’d be a lot happier knowing I’m giving good advice rather than the vague “do a boil wash” and see what happens.
Any chance of some advice from any of you that has done the training?

    Thanks in advance.

Re: Frost Free Fridge Freezer LG GR-S592QVC

    Hiya,
    To answer your questions.
    a. Yes, I’ve come across this sort of problem before. There are several things that can cause the freezer to freeze up and restrict the air getting to the fridge.
    b. Hard question, what’s ordered would very much depend on the diagnosis made by the engineer.
    c. Yes an engineer can check it over and give his opinion on whether the machine is ok or not but just like an MOT, his opinion is only valid for the time it was checked. A current MOT doesn’t mean a car is roadworthy other than at the time the MOT was carried out.
    d. The maintenance contract may be a little harder. I’d be doubtful as to whether British Gas would take it on seeing as they’ve already written it off and paid for a replacement. Not sure what other contracts are on offer but I’m sure someone on here will know.

I’m going for the adapter, that way I don’t have to be near my computer…. mind you, I’m always near one of them 😛

    Re: Skype

    Hiyas,
I don’t really need Skype as I already get all my landline phone calls free but I was in Maplins this afternoon getting some cables for my disco gear and I noticed a USB adapter for Skype. It basically connects your normal phones (including cordless) to VOIP and landline at the same time.
£29.99 each or two for £49.99. It’s called a VOIP Gateway if you want to search for it on the Maplin website. Looks like an interesting piece of kit so I’ll probably end up getting it 😛

    Re: Hotpoint TDL60 Tumble Drier

    Hiya,
Thanks for the info Iadom but I’ve already changed the selector switch and module and it will still only run in one direction. I’m due to go back to it Monday so I’ll have a dig about and see if I can find anything wrong, although there’s not that much in the machine.

    Thanks
    Brian 😀
