8 flashes is a water level failure. Is your drain onto a spigot under the sink or into a stand pipe? If it’s a stand pipe I’d guess it’s siphoning. If it’s a spigot, does the machine drain? If not, check that the blanks are out of the spigot.

Thanks very much for trying Dave. If I wasn’t a Scotsman and tight with it I’d have just binned the amp but……… I’m sure it’s worth something. LOL

    Re: Amplifier Repair

    Ta for that Dave.
The only information on the amp is “Quadratec VS450” Its a 600 watt amplifier (2 x 300w @ 8 ohms).
As far as I know Terralec repair these (cheaper to buy a new amp) but didn’t manufacture them. I haven’t been able to find out who did make them, no info whatsoever on the unit.
I’ve opened the amp and to be honest it doesn’t look as bad as the shop it went into said. I can only see one resistor that is badly burned, the rest of the components look as though they could be identified.
As I’ve replaced the amp already I’ll pull it to bits when I get a chance and have a go at replacing the burned bits and a couple of diodes. Then I’ll probably get frustrated and bin it. LOL

Thanks AL, any help is very much appreciated.
I’d even settle for a circuit diagram so I can identify the components I need.

Oooopppppssssss. The other thing to check is that the water isn’t being siphoned from the machine. Had one today with the drain hose too far into the stand pipe. As it started to wash it emptied, bringing up the F2 error.

Anything by Merloni and his brother. 😛

Martin, I’m shocked to see the Whirlpool Toploader in your list, does this include the “American style”? Cause I find them brilliant to work on. Hate the smaller bu**ers though

The pressure switch is located on the right hand side of the bowl, behind the tube heater. Again, check the cabling from the switch to the pcb.

Check the heater and thermostats. If it doesn’t heat it won’t advance and the dispenser won’t open

I really wish I knew all the model numbers by heart. Don’t though so guessing this is a whirlpool. If it is, two flashes = fault code F2

F2. Water leakage. Floater switch LS6 in drip tray has switched

Hiya, Sorry for not seeing this earlier.

F4 Draining failure. Drain pump, control board OWI or water indicator defect

    Hope it helps

    Test Mode

Make sure the appliance is empty of water before running Diagnostics as it does not pump out before starting to fill and therefore you could overfill the appliance.
Open the door and set the program to the first program. (Normally rinse).
    Turn the power off.
Press and hold the start button and while holding turn the power on.
After a little while the start button will flash, release the button.
Press the start button once and close the dishwasher door.
The machine will now run through a diagnostic routine.
If memory serves me right it takes about 20 mins.
The machine will stop during diagnostics if an error is found and will display the error code. If no error is found it will complete the diagnostics and end the programme.

To exit diagnostics at any time just press and hold the start button till the programme is cancelled.

If I remember to bring the S.A.M. in from the van I’ll post the error codes over the weekend.

    Re: whirlpool ADG7540/1

OK, looked up the S.A.M. using another machine i’m going to tomorrow and F7 = Flow meter failure. Inlet valve defect or water inlet hose blocked. I’ve also had this error where the drain hose was too low or siphoning.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Firenza(Whirlpool) DM 658 dishwasher.

The flow meter is part of the “air brake” “IWMS” (or any other name it goes under 😳 ), normally left hand side of the machine. Little propellor thing. Never had to change one yet though, always been bad connection.
