Sounds like it’s not heating the water and therefore not stepping on in the programme. Check the stats and heater.

I’ve never had a flow meter fail yet. It’s always been down to the plug or the wiring. Normally pulling the plug off the flowmeter, crimping it and plugging it back in gets it working.
I’ve got the service manual in pdf format for this machine. Give me a shout if you want it and I’ll send it to you.DP

Hi Dave, Been having a hunt through for you on this one but from the information I’ve got the original module (481221478206) is replaced by 481221478191. Machine should be pre 1999 with these numbers.
The fault you describe is normally down to the flowmeter not sending the pulses to the pcb. (It requires 10 pulses a second) However if it doesn’t get the pulses it should abort the programme, drain and then give the error F7.
If the number for the original module is different, post it and I’ll dig a bit deeper for you.
Sorry, my answer isn’t really of much help. Give me a shout if I’m online and I’ll do my best to help.DP

Again, Sorry but without seeing and checking I can only guess at a faulty inlet valve. You’re best bet is to put your post code in here and see if there’s an engineer near you. I do advise getting an engineer as it will work out cheaper in the long run.

Ok, this isn’t conclusive but from what I’m reading my guess has to be either the fill hose has been crushed and has collapsed cutting the water supply, the inlet valve isn’t opening or the module itself is faulty.
With the first two you should eventually get an error code. With a faulty module you don’t normally get an error code as it cannot check itself.
Hope this is of some help to you.DentedPorsche
ParticipantRe: Incomplete fault code list
OK Dave I’ve updated the fault codes for Whirlpool dishwashers, I’ve only recently come into possession of the full list of codes for Whirlpool appliances (previously only had the codes from the SAM module).
I’ll post more as soon as I get time to type them up along with the test programme instructions (if I can find them). May be some time before I can do this as my wife is out of hospital today and coming home for me to look after her.DentedPorsche
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool 6th Sense ADP8940
Nearest I can find to this is the ADP8942 which is a french version.
From the description of the fault it sounds as though there’s water in the base activating the floater switch. Switch the power off, tilt the machine backward slightly and see if any water drains out of the base. If it does then one of three things can be the cause, a blockage forcing water into the base, a leak or too much foam (is your rinse aid setting correct? has rinse aid been spilled prior to the fault?)
If I’m right you should also be getting an F2 error code.
Hope this helps.DentedPorsche
ParticipantRe: f6 on Whirlpool ADP 5966
Sorry, won’t be much help but F6 error means “Water tap closed”.
Without seeing and checking the machine can only guess at either faulty inlet valve or crushed inlet hose.DentedPorsche

Turn the power and water off, disconnect the water hose from the rear of the dishwasher, reconnect the water hose, turn on the water and power again. This should reset the aquastop.

You need to count the number of flashes then post the result here. It should flash a number of times, pause, then repeat. Let us know how many flashes between pauses.

Crushed the fill hose when you put the machine back perhaps?
Are you getting any error codes flashing?DentedPorsche
ParticipantRe: Whirlpool ADG 9540 Dish washer
When the light is flashing, how many flashes are there between pauses?

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP 8332 – problems galore!
The base is full of water and that’s why it will be tripping the mains. You need to drain the base then figure out where it’s leaking from.

OK, having read your post, one possible reason for leaving the washing in water is “crease guard”. Don’t really know the model you’re on about though, just suggesting an answer to your query.

ParticipantRe: Known Error Codes
As far as I remember (need to read the manual again), E90 displayed to the customer may not be the error code shown in diagnostics. You need to run the diagnostics and read the last error code to find out what’s wrong.
