    Re: card services

despite all the technology and the prompting to pay by cards, my most popular payment method is still cheques by a wide margin. There is no way I could declare my business a cheque free zone yet. I think some like the security of paying by cheque and I can understand that. They usually add, while writing the cheque, that they havent written one for ages!
Still have to trek to the bank to pay in cash anyway, dont you?
Somehow, I really dont think customers entering their card numbers into a strange lap top or i phone is a viable method of payment, I certainly wouldnt do it unless I knew the tradesman very well.

This may have been covered before, but i’m looking at taking payments via c.card & debit card- time i got into the 21st century!.
I’ve had quote from Elavon for hiring mobile terminal for £26.50 a month + 1.75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of transactions -c.card & 18p for debit card payments.
    Is this about right?
Waiting to hear from streamline and rbs for there quotes.
Anyone know of reliable supplier with no hassle as I googled Elavon and read some worrying reports.
    Any info appreciated.

doesnt sound a bad deal as such and the rental at least is cheaper than I use. Make sure it includes data transaction charges (ie the telephone call made to authorise the card) some include this in the rental, others charge per call/minute. Also, find out what phone network they use and make sure it works in your area. They will also probably charge you if it goes wrong. My battery failed and they couriered a new one to me same day, cost to me £150!

actually quite an interesting day…….predominatly females there mind.
No gruesome videos, only those we already see on tv. Probably did not learn much and, as cras pointed out, it is a bit preaching to the converted as I am sure none of us there are what you would call speeders. Just a shame the resources were not better used to catch bad drivers and those using phones while driving.

    regards will.

    is it heating?
if not, some have a restable thermostat, or dry joint on heater relay on pcb or pcb itself if it only heats for a very short period.

you have a short memory Subs, In summer 2008, diesel was approaching £1.40 a litre with petrol at around £1.20.

the expected re call has not materialised. ALthough when I tested it, it certainly was not heating up on both heaters. Customer has paid for the power board so I would assume they would have been straight on the phone had it not worked. Maybe I was worrying over nothing….would love a service manual for these though as they are a bit of a mystery to me.
So, as far as I know, the power board in the side cured the problem.
