ModeratorRe: Smeg DWI710E1 4 to 5 hr to complete a wash
flashing 3 & 4 lights doesnt relate to any error code, coil failures usually show up straight away with a pulsing of the pump and a bleep as soon as the door is shut. Clean under the little black flap in the filter sump with realy, just off boiling water, dont poke anything stiff 😳 up there though as its a rubber hose which bends at 90 degree. I usually insert a length of pressure switch hose and discharge a syringe load of hot water inside.

Thing is customers may get upset if we hand them a “clean your oven” flyer after we repair it. You know what they are like sometimes. Having said that I do get asked about cleaning services occasionaly, guess we could play it by ear. Wouldnt fancy the job myself though.

ModeratorRe: repairs@
As I have said before, customers like the local option, ensure the area of the repairers HQ/Office/home whatever is displayed on the list alongside their name.
Repairs @ is a great service and I have no problem with using subs funds on it.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Speeding
Agree with what you say Ken but its irrelevent to the subject of speed cameras and revenue raising. In theory of course a camera is money well spent rather than having an officer standing there instead of catching real criminals. I know in practice it doesnt work out that way, but dont blame speed cameras for that.
I forget to add Tesco to my list…..dont get me started on them! and I was having a day off, hence time to rant 😉eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Speeding
I am having a ranting day and nothing gets my back up more (aside from NTL,AOL, Arsenal fans and Hendrick motorsport drivers winning) than those who quote that old cliche about speeding fines and raising revenue.
So what if they do raise revenue? The police is not a profit making bussiness and is funded by our tax, and I am assuming this money is not spent on the xmas police piss up. That means the cash raised is pumped back into the forces to carry out their work and hopefully less on our council tax bills. Should up the mobile phone while driving policing at the same time and maybe enpower traffic wardens to be able to spot fine or even just photograph offenders and their cars whilst they are plodding around town. More cash from offenders, less from the law abiding.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Welcome to AOL, now get out of that!
Dont worry, NTL will soon bring Virgin down to their level. However good NTL customer service is in your area, Ill bet one thing though, they wont be there on a Sunday when we are all trying to watch TV.
Sorry I misunderstood your NTL history Jim I assumed it was like me: East London Cable Co >Encom>Bell> Cable & Wireless>NTL. NTL are now trying to pull the wool over consumers eyes that they are now part of Virgin, that is not the case, its the other way around and they are only using that name to get away from the bad publicity the NTL name has.
Wow was I happy when I heard the news they were taking over my mobile phone serivce as well. 😥eastlmark

effzedarr wrote:Got to agree with Jim, i’ve been on Virgin pay-as-you-go mobile for about a year & there customer service is spot on , maybe some of our manufacture’s helplines should take a leaf out of there book!
Chris..you are missing the point effzedarr. There was nothing wrong with Virgins mobile phones, the point is its all been swallowed up by NTL who have thee worse customer service in the world BY FAR. I have lost count of the amount of Weekends that had been ruined by staring at a locked up tv picture while the Daytona 500 (or whatever is on that weekend) is on, which I pay over the top for and their customer service dept is closed. As for the Setanta/ Nasn debacle of last year where our services were transfered to “Rangers TV” of all places (which I had to subscribe extra for!) which would conveniently shut down at Midnight with 50 laps to go. I gave NTL so many chances…. I dont like SKY and if there were another alternative I would go for it, but I reluctantly have to admit their service is far superior to NTL’s.
Ntl’s programme guide is joke, its faster to run down the shops and buy a newspaper, Sky’s is instant. Having ran both side by side for a year now, I have suffered not one Sky breakdown or freezing while we regularly need to “re boot” the NTL box and look at the word “TUNE” in the display for a few hours before anything works.
I never signed up with NTL. like Jim I only ended up with them due to aquisitions. How come they have a monopoly on cable tv anyhow? I can choose gas suppliers and electric suppliers but not cable providers.
Rant over.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: partscenter
Qualtex are sending out flyers showing a pack of Invicta dust bags emblazened with the words “Closing Down Sale” and inviting orders to them instead.

Mind you getting out of a NTL tv contract is not so simple either…..(Changed name to Virgin media as if anyone thinks their customer serivce would improve, its still basicly NTL). Their cancelation line is a long long wait and then they assume you are cancelling due to Sky one being removed (never watched it!) and try to talk you around all sorts of sweetners and offers. Finally they get it. 31 days notice mind.

Just been on an Asko service call (5p in pump, as usual!) but noticed lots of sound deadening felt that was missing from the one at Sibson. Might be worth thinking about that if we have any say on the spec.

need to plug in a module, probably that, but you will need the correct model number or the number on the module. Not a common fault on these but the timer is controlled by the module so i would guess its that.

ModeratorRe: Smeg DW612C
Almost certainly Jim. Often blows triac so flap either opens as soon as it is powered up and coil stays energised melting some of the linkage of the dispenser. and that is almost certainly what happened to your old dispenser. (and maybe the new one too :rolls: Post the correct model number and I will see if I can do one cheap for you tommorrow.
