ModeratorRe: STOCKLINK – The End!
A good example this morning, need a pcb timer for a hoover PE235. Try looking that up on connections or even find it in mediator. Open up the now defunct, but still working as a part look up, stocklink and get the part number in an instant.

ModeratorRe: STOCKLINK – The End!
It did that!!!! and it even gave pattern alternatives part numbers, including their competitors (ie electrue). as well as listing the former part numbers if superceeded. i am missing it already.

So when is the last time people will be able to order with it?Isnt that the whole purpose of these anyway? What more do you want it to do?

I will miss it, IMO still one of the best part number look up around, and one of the first available too. Worked well, even with dial up while connections only ever came into its own when Broadband became wide spread.
A big mistake to get rid of it I feel.
Dave, like your car,you obviously never quite got the hang of it I guess. 😉eastlmark
ModeratorRe: de-dietrich pyro oven
I have had a pcb on order for one of these since Febuary this year. Seeing as Brandt spares have swopped to Electrue I doubt I will ever get it, but the customer hasnt chased it so I guess they may also have given up hope.

Home Depot cheap and cheerfull. I always fill my suitcase with the stuff when visiting the states, at around 65p a large tube it cannot be beaten.

ModeratorRe: Deal on postal services
Yes, but they have to go some way to beat Royal mail. I know its a hassle to take stuff down there, but couriers have been way too much in comparison.

Cannot help but think about brushes replaced for £25…… By who and with what? could have contributed to the further problem.

ModeratorRe: Did we really need a floorcare Forum?
Just to punish me for my earlier comments, the wifes Dyson cuts out today, holiday monday, and I find myself stripping the damn thing down this afternoon (Instead of being at Notting Hill Gate). Dyson or no Dyson, nothing has really changed, still a pig to take apart, dust sticking to the sweat on my forehead, in my hair, all over my nice clean workbench, plastic bits breaking, the obligatory screw left over, motor not sounding right at all after re-assembly so start all over again….. sudenly I had the thought of a hoover starlight or, even worse, the French made convertable…….nothings changed, £25 or not, i could have done a WMA bearings in the time it took. Whats more, never found a fault anyway so I guess I may well be posting the question. Why does our Dyson DC07 cut out after 10 mins and then re-starts an hour or so later?

ModeratorRe: Repair referals
I would have no problem with that as long as they are not seeking a refund /credit on the part. Infact we used to pick up a lot of work from shop spare sales that way, you know, bod buys a pressure switch for over filling machine (often against our advise but WTH) then is on the phone next day when it has not solved the problem. The only ones i would be wary of are timers, especialy the old wired (as opposed to plug type) ones as the chances of a wire being wrong were high. Not so many of those about nowdays though, thank god.

ModeratorRe: Fridge door seal – fitting advice wanted.
Yeah, Brandt did that to me too, so i called them and the then service manager talked of razor blades, white spirit, drills and self tappers. Needless to say i declined the job and probably still have that seal in the ‘big box’

Negative?me?
Having never subscribed to the gloom and doom that sometimes is expressed in this forum I doubt that is the case. Maybe what you are reading into this is just that having not to worry about staff and shop etc, although still working damn hard, I have discovered there is after all more to life than whitegoods.
Not to mention that I now am not sitting infront of a pc all day and therefore may be a bit more selective in posts I respond to.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Stoves oven that keeps switching itself on
Is this a fan oven? If so did the fan start up as well or was it just the thermostat light? It may be the thermostat faulty, sometimes they dont quite switch off.. If the whole oven including fan comes on then it is something more serious.
