He did not want a ‘ quick’ fix, just to be dealt with by a trader with morals. As he is in the middle of moving to a new post in Sussex and is very busy with that at the moment, bringing the machine all the way from Cornwall to Oldham would be just plain daft.

Also I think that £100 + labour ( we know the cost of bearings & spider )for what should be at the most a 2 hour job is rather steep, but then I do live in the poor & run down North. 😥 😉

I am sure the guy informed him how much the repair would be before carrying it out, right? His options then would be to try and get it cheaper if he so wanted to but chose not to by the sound of it.

But would you order a part on the customers word that it is faulty? I have a huge box of such parts pre-ordered unnesesarily. And dont even mention to me about getting accurate model numbers from customers. Just the correct make is sometimes even a trying issue.

Thusrday is my traditional day off, wonder why.

Why does the customers phone ring and they get involved in a long phone call, right at the moment you have completed their bill and awaiting, twiddling thumbs, for payment, yet the hour or so you have been spralled on their kitchen floor they had nothing better to do than stare at your arse!.

MFI for one certainly expect you to remove and replace unless under special circumstances, but they pay a reasonable rate for it. Smeg, however dont pay enough but the majority of their work is fixed in situ, I find.
The only thing i never try to do is removing those canopy cooker hoods, I did it once with the glass balanced on my head but never again!

Grab the handle, assuming this is an intergrated one, shake and pull at the same time, usually works, but then find out why before closing it again! Will probably need a catch and facia anyway so doesnt matter too much if you break it as above.

Just check the spray arms are not blocked and are free to turn. Apart from that there is not a lot else you can do. Still under warranty so shouldnt be much of a problem for you.

Accept the struggle and be grateful for the work is what I think. The good news being that they cannot simply buy a new one for £180 and are more likely to have a repair done at a proper rate. its very rare I have ever given up on getting one out, thick floor tiles in front of it is usually the case.
After doing a few thousand it becomes less daunting.

Just Keep in mind that this machine has not been out long enough for anyone here, or anywhere really, to know how good, reliable or long lasting it will be. Ask us again 18 months or so. Interestingly, no part numbers are available for the drum and bearings other than a complete unit at a reasonable £188 inc vat.
Also, Hotpoint are selling an almost identical model.

AFAIK John Lewis still stock the ASKO washing machine. at around £750 it cannot be beaten on quality and performance, even including Miele.

    Re: AEG Favorit 44450 leak

Have you checked the plumbing and connections? These machines are usually sealed underneath so any leak water is usually contained and activate a safety device that would stop the programme. I would suggest your leak is from elsewhere.
