    Re: hotpoint df42 error

Its a problem to do with the heater, could be a number of things from the heater itself, the temperature sensing device or the control panel. Complex machine to diagnose. Would recommend expert help unless the heater is obviously blown. Unplug before undoing any screws!

Smeg often use a common parts diagramm. Yours may be the tubular element then. No reset on that one but usually very relaible.

Re: What do you give your accountant?

Think about computerised accounts Tony, they save a heck of a lot of work both for you and your accountant. A few of us here use quickbooks and although its not perfect (and i defo wouldnt recommend the payroll service for less than 5 employees) it does the job easily and all you need to give your accountant is the file on cd or whatever along with bank statements etc. We have piles of copy written reciepts which I keep for tax inspectors only should they need to see them. Whatever programme you may use though, ensure your accountant is familiar with it or you may end up paying for his/her learning curve.

No, the parts are not that expensive compared to the replacement cost of an intergrated machine. Get it looked at first before making such a descision.

We dont even get such info for Indesit. the moral is always change these wire for wire. Only an Indesit engineer would have access to such a thing.

All the “gubbins” appear to be located on the bottom of the machine, how can these be replaced without removing the machine? Im shocked!

    Ant

You would be amazed at what we can do sometimes. Anything to avoid a difficult appliance removal.

your problem could be the heater relay cutting off before full temp is reached or, even a blocked top spray arm as the thermostats are in the door and if it isnt turning they dont know the true temp, take ’em off and clean them.

Need your product code, Mario, but if its the old AEG favorite type then its always the pressure chamber in the left hand side thats blocked and needs to be replaced. I comes as a kit with a rubber sleeve and the old one needs hacksawing off it it hasnt been changed in the past.

The leg problem is common on any intergrated dishwasher and is one of the many problems we encounter every day! 😥

There is a good chance though that it will not need to be taken out to repair this and 80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of any future problem you may have. E3 is a no heat indication, if you are running off hot water (it shouldnt be really) then it will be difficult for you to tell if it is heating or not.
If you do have a fiddle, ensure the plug is out first.

This is a very complex machine, as it belw the fuse/trip I would fear the worse as at that age i doubt it is someting as simple as the motor brushes. This machine has at least 2 modules which can blow after a motor problem. Would really suggest expert help on this. If you do look yourself, ensure it is unplugged before removing any panel.

    Re: Servis fridge/freezer problem.

Would need the model number to advise further as some are electronic control while others are plain ordinary fridge stats. If the latter, then the light failing is not related. Dont expect to turn the knob and get an instant reaction, they dont work that way.

check the wires linking the heater/fan unit to the main loom. Often break there.

Need the full model number, if its the type with a solonoid on the back of the timer, even the brushes arcing can cause this very fault. havn’t come across one for years though.
