    Re: brandt wfh1671u bearings

Yes! its a great machine and best of all the bearing change will take 40mins max.

The bearings are: 6306 and 6305 and available from electrue for less than a fiver the pair, yeah the seal is pricy but what the heck at least you are not having to mess about with half tubs etc.

need to locate a plug and un plug it, unless of course its a battery ignition and then locate the battery and remove it.
Post a model number for further help. But you will need an engineer to put it right.

I always thought the person who devised the jetsytem, extra pump, hoses that awful heater manifold etc must have kicked himself when Hotpoint came up with the drilled scoop/baffle thang.

Remember the confusion when they changed the position of the pumps?

When Chris first used that latin stuff, I, trying to show him how clever I am, tried to translate it by plonking the whole lot in Google and searching. Result? a whole page of Chris’s posts on UKW 😳

    Re: dishwasher locked shut

As its intergrated, no doubt it is screwed to the worktop making it not possible to ‘slip the machine forward’ as suggested. We can usually open these by vigourously shaking the door while pulling forward. Works every time.

Some smeg models also have a lockable door by way of sliding the outer decor panel down to expose the secondary display. Many users dont know they have this feature until someone accidently pushes down on the door at some point. just make sure this is not the case by lifting the door panel upwards first.

Re: Repair needed for a Scandinova LF6-140W

I do not know that model but with most fridges there are 3 versions.
If you have a seperate metal evaporator (this is the plate on the back of the inside of the fridge where the frost forms) the capilary will probably be clamped to this by way of screws or maybe it slips into a metal sleeve. If your thermostat is mounted on the top of the fridge (ie outside of the actual fridge itself) it will pass through the top and then down a tube into the fridge itself. on scandinova models this is normally twinned with a thermometer phial as well. Once the old phial is removed, the new one can then be poked down and can just about be reached with fingers under the evaporator and located where the old one was.

If the thermostat is inside the fridge then it may go straight to the evaporator or it may go outside the back of the fridge and then re-inserted at another point or down a tube as above.

The thrid version is what is known as a wet liner where you have no seperate evaporator. In these cases the phial may go down an internal foamed in tube and never emerge into the fridge iteself. In this case it is important to get the correct stat with the correct length of cappillary and poke it back down the tube as far as it can go.

Remember though that the connections on a fridge stat are 240v mains and therefore ensure you unplug the appliance before carrying out any work and ensure the new cappilary cannot come into contact with any live connections.

I have just had a quick look in shop@ and I think this is the stat you need:
