Yes, it is usualy the thermistors. Make that the first thing to try. The defrost timer is electronic and some of these are horrible modifications to replace.

Mark, hope you charged a decent rate for doing this job. Customers here should not expect a repair on this type of specialist appliance at the same cost of a run of the mill Hotpoint carbons for example. Yes it is an easy job but you can impress a customer by ripping that cabinet off in like 30 seconds!
    Mark.

Re: Zanussi Frost Free Fridge Freezer Leaking Water From Fre

The water from the ice, as this appliance de- frosts is supposed to run down a gutter and drainage hole onto the compressor where it should evaporate. This gutter and hole is hidden from view behind the back cover of the inside of the freezer (unlike the one you may have in the fridge). This drainage hole has its own heater to prevent it from freezing up and I suspect there is a problem with this or the defrost/no frost control. Either way its a tricky one to fault find, even for us lot. call a pro.

    Re: Liebherr freezer problem

It must be said that compressors do not seem as reliable as they used to be (what is?) and yes the alternative refrigerant, along with the alternative oil in the compressor, may be in part to blame. But it is by no means ‘normal’ that a comp should fail at 3 years and, if you have to pay the full cost for this it will not be far short of that new price you quoted.
This brand is generally pretty good and regardless, most compressors are bought in items so you may get the same one on another make anyway. I would kick up a fuss with Liebherr and try and get some sort of concession towards the repair from them.
I trust also that the location of the freezer is as per the instructions regarding ventilation etc which is another factor that can shorten compressor life.

Probably nothing more than the drain pipe blocked. at the back of the inside of the fridge, there should be a gutter and a drain hole. poke something down the hole a bit and try and clear it out.

Stefan, you are the second person to report this noise in the past few days, seems as if this noise is just ‘normal’ on these appliances. Complain to Hotpoint so at least they will know there is a problem.

    Re: Cheapest parts

Problem is that there is no one brand that has reasonable prices across the board. A Smeg fan element for example being half the cost of an electrolux EOB one, yet a Smeg ceramic ring is like 3 times that of an electrolux one. I swear manufacturers use the ‘think of a number and double it’ method of pricing spares.

Re: Bosch Compact Dishwasher SKT500 – Salt problem

This is a table top dishwasher, in general you would expect to find water in the salt container, you do need to fill up with salt (which should displace the water) and monitor how quick it goes, if it all goes in one wash then that would indicate a problem. Assuming this is not the case, have you checked the spray arms are not blocked? If possible remove them and shake out any debris through the large centre hole and flush water through it to make sure that even the slightest thing is not blocking the jets and, once re- fitted, that they are free to spin. Check also that the rinse aid is kept topped up.

Sorry to hear about that work not quite being as good as expected and you are a very honest person Martin to say that.
I too am a sole trader and have been progressivly downsizing over the past few years, not by choice I might say and certainly not by lack of work but by the lack of being unable to get enough people to work for me. Having said that, although I am still well over the vat threshold, although having dropped appliance sales my turnover has taken a knock, if/when the day comes I shall stay vat registered and if I was ever advised to de register, I dont think I will shout about it.

Whirlpool did in our area in the days they had their own service network, not seen her around for 15 odd years though.
