Do you have pro corner access? lots of tech and test programmes on there. Let me know if no and I will forward you some stuff.

    Re: Dedietrich induction hob

would quote them prices of pcb’s before even starting. If they don’t even want to go for that then not worth the effort. Most Brandt De- detriech have pairs of pcbs so may explain why 2 rings have gone off.
As its only a hob, new ones are not that expensive compared to throwing pcb’s at these things. Unfortunately, if its a range cooker then we don’t have that luxury as I have found out to my cost having busted all my credit limits on pcb’s that take weeks to arrive. (not De Detrich I should add)
Most range (Smeg/Rangemaster/Stoves) hobs are all Ego ones but there is little if any cross references or interchangeability between parts and often different software according to serial numbers. Whats more, the tech is moving so quickly you may never see the same type again so don’t count on fitting unused bards elsewhere. An expensive minefield I am reluctant to step into again.

Why they persist with these things I’ll never know, I can’t even see the point of them and goddam awful to work on.

True but can be good earners for us as the replacements are still a lot of money and a difficult hole to fill in ones kitchen.

the older types with screw on covers seal fine, the heatpump version might be more risky. More of an issue on the heatpumps is the 2 hoses that feed the arms have rubber/silicon ends on them that go rotten and although they might be fine before hand, once these are prized off to remove the pump you may find they leak afterwards. As the top one is £120 odd and the shorter one £50 its worth informing the customer first that this could be the outcome otherwise you might find yourself footing the bill.

Just looks the same sort of deal.

No Ken, that one is normal Bosch with Panasonic microwave bits. Pretty sure that one doesn’t even have a fan element.

Its, I think Teka made, quite old now and yes twin mags with accompanying transformers, caps and diodes. Itching now from the insulation having to be peeled back. Thankfully this was a chargeable job, would not fancy doing that for a Smeg warranty rate. It was a model FM38X2

those older ones do have a level pressure switch. Pressure chamber can be removed by unscrewing the support for the lower spray arm. can be done in situ.

Noticed at the time that this resistor and associated components are direct off the mains, hence always powered up even when machine switched off…. has to shorten life really. Surely in these eco and H&S days, a hard on off switch should be mandated on all electrical appliances.

might be worth having a good look at the pcb for blown components or track, may be another issue caused it to pop. As a rule, if you have 230v to the pcb you should get lights or something showing life, if not then pcb had it.

Re: Siemens waterless washer drier wd14H420

    Thanks for the info Dave.
In the event I went for the new pcb and after a meticulous meter check of just about every component in the machine, I switch on in a fingers crossed moment…… all seems fine- job done then.
reading your post above, if the resistor is used as a fuse then I am guess it needs to be replace with one of the same wattage? Must admit I was going for a higher wattage type thinking it was under rated for the job…. would have been a mistake then. Will bare in mind for the future.

if not a blocked impellor then its the pressure switch clipped onto the side of the wash pump. Very common failure. often for leaks and trips as well.
