leavemetogetonwithit wrote:Funny, it’s about a year since I last got called to do one. Can scarcely remember how it’s done. But I can remember a hole in the kickplate which has a plastic cover with a picture / diagram embossed in it which I imagined had to do with the special tool. If not, what’s it for? Oh, I mean VTDs not CTDs.
Mike.
that hole/cover is where the pcb mounts (on machines that have them, on those that dont its just a covered hole) and allows access for the hardware key……dont try fitting a belt on through there!eastlmark

lots on here, try searching.

in the back feed tube to the top arm, small plastic cover at rear centre allows access to the terminals.

ModeratorRe: SMEG Dishwasher
what do you mean drain pump “times out” this one should pump for around 3 minutes, filling short spurts of water while doing so (which you may not hear due to the pump noise).
That is a great appliance to repair as the customer is stuck with the diswasher due to having to change the kitchen sink if they want to replace! You can quote what you like really.
Obviously check the undertray for leaks and if it is not filling it may be the valve. The diswasher will slide out of its housing very easily once the obvious screws are removed.

ModeratorRe: Smeg DWD1SS float switch
as this is the old style smeg, it may be worth flushing the tube from the air break to the sump out with very hot water. There is a hole at the back of the sump under the filter, right hand side, which may or may not have a flap over it. I use a syringe with a short length of rubber pipe atatched, fill with just short of boiling water, insert hose as far as it will go (there is a 90 degree bend to get around) and pump the hot water in and remove the hose and watch the crap float out on the water. This may do the trick and not need pulling the machine out to do so. If not then I would suggest a new air break rather than trying the clean the old one.

ModeratorRe: Very, very old Neff washer.
Sorry Martin but that is clearly a classic AEG.
Classic faults were the interlock for the outer drop down door either failng or the plastic locator breaking or falling out, that and the linkage from the timer knob to the rear mounted timer coming loos meaning the timer is not properly pulled on when the knob is pulled. Think this one may even had a swtich on the dispenser draw which may prevent fill if its failed.
My bet its an interlock problem.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: h/pt bf41 start button
no, it operates a timer in the front base, once released it will pop back.
You can index timer manually with a torx driver if you take the cover off under the door, beware though as it will heat even without water.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Smeg DWI612c
would have thought you would get an error code had the ntc failed. its a rare failure. The correct resistance is very high, dont have it to hand, but a continuity meter will not show it. More than likely the pcb is the fault.

Yeah asko top weight problem is a common fault, done loads over the years its to do with the different expansion rates of Stainless steel over cast iron, has to be seen to be believed the way that mass of iron can bend….
only joking! Just thought you need something else to worry about this week Ken!will argue to till the death about lockrings though, quicker and far more reliable than brazing. only downside is getting wp’s to pay a correct price for the connectors and the amount of different sizes required for every eventuality. Did once witness 2 time served electrolux employed engineers do a comp change challenge and the one using lockrings was out the door 30 minutes before the old ludite with his torch.
I have only ever had one failure of a lockring and that was due to not cleaning the build up of lockprep in the jaws of the tool- a lesson learned. + I am still using my original tool 10 years on.eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Smeg Dishwasher
check the dispenser first, just connect up any old solonoid valve in place of the coil to confirm. Must admit dispenser faults on these are getting rare these days. If not that then pcb is suspect #1

ModeratorRe: Fisher Paykel Dishdrawer
sorry didnt read your post properly. Shirley then it must be the power board?
eastlmark
ModeratorRe: Fisher Paykel Dishdrawer
could be the thermal link in the heater element. its used as a resistor to power the board in the draw front. New heater is the only fix if so.
