    Re: American Fridge freezer advice

hi mike, if you wanted an American fridge freezer, then i’d search around to see if there any of the old American built admiral machines knocking about still.
the modern one is whirlpool built and imo, not as good.
the liebherr is different as it isn’t one big fridge, but two full width appliances bolted together and as such is much wider than the things you see all the time.
most of the units on sale aren’t American, but ‘American style’.
the main difference being in the climate class that the appliances are made to operate in and therefore by definition, the build quality.
the liebherr would be my choice, but they pulled their side by side off the market just for now.

    Re: Smeg

hello, sorry to have seen this late, but it looks like you’re barking up the wrong tree with a thermostat here.
i’m sure this model is a gorenje built one and as such is a fairly simple appliance.
when you talk about the metal element, are you talking about the black condenser grill that sits on the outside at the very back of the fridge freezer?
if so, the purpose of this grill is to dissipate the heat that is in the compressed refrigerant, as it has left the compressor.
at the point that the refrigerant enters the condenser, it should be quite warm, getting cooler as the pipework goes on.
if it used to be warm and then now isn’t, it sounds to me like you have a system fault, ie. low refrigerant or worse case, compressor fault.
this diagnosis would be backed up by the ice build up in the top corner of the fridge.
is it the top left hand corner?
don’t spend any more money in parts, but instead, if the fridge is still in good order, call out an engineer.
there’s a search facility on this site.

    Re: Football Season 2013/14

a game of two halves at turf moor, where at halftime, we could have easily gone in behind to a hard working and organised if unspectacular Yeovil team.
deadlock broken in the 74th minute after what could be put down as a mistake from the rookie keeper, on loan from man utd, at his near post.
after that, we totally dominated and could have won by a bigger margin than the eventual 2-0.
looking forward to the game tonight.

turf moor correspondent checking in here.
a fairly solid start by the clarets with a painfully thin squad.
    it can only get worse!

Re: Baumatic BFC220SL Frost free fridge/ freezer

hello max, is anything else in the fridge freezing up?
is the temperature in the fridge what you would normally expect?
if so, then you may have an insulation problem in the fridge which would be un repairable.
the drain hole takes away the water which is a product of the defrost cycle which occurs in the fridge many times a day.
it shouldn’t freeze at all, unless you have an insulation fault or a temperature fault.

    Re: Liebherr freezer 2966

    that’s the thing!
it doesn’t move much. you need to press it up whilst at the same time apply a little pressure, pulling the icemaker towards you.
then still pulling the icemaker, press the one on the other side up. this should see the icemaker slip forward for you to take it from its housing.

    Re: Liebherr freezer 2966

hi steph, you should be pushing up a clip on both sides that will alow the icemaker to be pulled forwards.
this clip is on the outside of the unit and level with the black cable as shown in your first pic.

hello steph, sorry to be a pain, but can you post a pic of the icemaker, looking at it from the front.
I think wires are getting crossed here.

    cheers.

    Re: Siemens Fridge Freezer

hello, I’ve just seen your post further down the board. if what you’re experiencing is ice on the base of the freezer, then it’s more than likely that the evaporator drain hole is blocked up.
    the heater should be fine.
i’m not familiar with your model number, but the evaporator cover should come off fairly easily and then you should be able to unblock the drain hole.

to my shame, I’ve never used the on site shop, believing it was for retail only.
is there a trade discount for us?

    Re: Siemens Fridge Freezer

Hello, If the heater isn’t working, then you would be experiencing an ice build up in the freezer, resulting in poor temperatures because of the reduction in air flow.
