Moderatorif your using it as a convection oven only you can use anything you would use in a normal oven
but if your using microwave as well the metal will stop the miocrowaves from getting at the food apart from the topalso if the metal touches the inside in more than one place you could get lots of sparking

Moderatoron that machine you can take the case off as the drum is attached to the base. the suspension is only on the drum
have had to change the rear boot on one that was fun

Moderatorjust to double check we are on the same page
you say cooling fan and we are not taking about the fan in the oven chamber we are talking about the one that blows cold air to keep controls cool

Moderatoryou might find a good used motor on Ebay
with a new sealed tub at just under £300 no one is ever going to repair
with the non sealed it is possible to do a bearing swop but you need a kit to put the drum back together as you have to break clips to seperate it

Moderatorwell hopefully you can go and pull it out
turn half grill on and see if you get a voltage across 2 wires. put those on the single element and see how it goes. if it fails swop over first 2 wires
that hopefully should work

Moderatoryou are probably correct if the room is too cold unit wont work
most fridges have a minimum temp below which it wont function properly
on older units the fridge had to get to plus 2 degrees to turn the unit back on. if the room is plus one then nothing turns on and all defrosts
look in the owners manual and see what it says

Moderatordont even think about it
to take the drum out of one of those is a big big pain ( thats the polite version )
done dozens of cap changes it gets easier over time its the first ones you struggle with as you learn ways to make it easier
