    basically yes
front panel and the front frame / bearing unit off

as you remove front panel remove wires from door switch and dont forget to plug it back on ( been there lol )

also as you remove frame take careful note of the way the harness runs over the frame arms. if you get the wrong the wires could catch the drum and go bang

then you have to unplug wires with one hand from the cap and some of them are tight and have to be teased off with a small screw driver

cap has a nut on it normally 13mm

you need to undo this and dont drop nut or the washer and if you do make sure you either know where its dropped or find it

a loop of string can help hold the new cap in place to get the nut and washer on

then make sure you get wires on correct terminals

    take top off

switch on and press start. as you do so give the drum a push

if it revolves let it run for a minute and open door and check for heat

if you have heat then you have a failed capacitor on the motor. most of the time its 7uF but would need the model and serial to check

this is the 7uf but on hoover its real fun to get and fit

the whole fron of the drier has to com off and your working in a space only one hand can access

first thing to always try is disconnect heater and see if it trips then

the 2 most likely problens are heater and motor. the motor could just be worn brushes sparking

dont really get involved in trying to fix the boards since emw shut tbh

but if you find a burnt component it would make it certain the board had failed

ok you will find light flash but its the ones that dont are important. the progress indicator lights telling you its on Wash ,rinse, spin etc is what matters

assume the dryer is indoors (get a lot in garages and sheds)
check there is no condensation getting into the case causing problems. you could run it with the lid off to see if anything changes

if all components are ok all that’s left are wiring and board

if you have not done already try removing plugs from the board and plug them back in case of bad connections

well if it is open it will leak

strange thing is there are 2 rubbers listed for that machine one before a serial no and one after. the before one does not have the spout. but i dont know if anything else is different. Cant remember where the spout connects to but it may be the pump.
diagram for the machine does not show any extra pipes after the serial so it is strange

well unless you operating it incorrectly then it sounds like the valve has failed

although rare its a mechanical device so can fail

you would need a gas safe appliance engineer to inspect and repair
