    they will shoot themselves at the moment i recon more hotpoints than anything so if they cant be reconned there will be less people with hotpoints so less spares sold and less brand loyalty

    got most of the money they owe me but i started doubling the bills a while ago so i am on the right side have been promised more money in september

    testing it should not be a problems its only a stat and should be short circuit if ok

    point 1 Oven you say the element gives a good Meg ohm reading have you made a mistake here as i expect below 50 ohms

    point 2 Hob Ring yes the rings fail like any other element but so do the switches so you have to check both with a meter before you can be certain which has failed

    agree with martin follow wires on door lock back to the board and see which triac it goes to chances are it will be short circuit

    have you checked for earth faults

    most components are fed live and neutral switched so if you have a small leak to earth valve will energise

    with that model number normally 35 but you never know

    if it has plastic pulley it normally 30 but not in all cases

    such is the rubbish they now call Hotpoint
