    Re: Qualtex on line ordering?

what some of you dont realise is the problem Qualtex have had.

Put yourself in their position you have a software supplier that is ramping prices out of all proportion knowing that you have no option but to pay up. also this supplier who is in control of your complete ordering system could pull the plug at a moments notice leaving your complete company high and dry. so to combat this the web server was developed in secret and it is hard to debug software when you can only test it betwwen the development team. if things where working properly you would start say 10 people using the system to iron out the problems before a complete roll out

as for the search it is slighly different but if you put in more information it gets better

ie put in wm63 you get 5 pages of 50 items
put in wm63 timer you get 5 items

you just need to be more specific the main problem is the database which is full of holes at the moment but these are being plugged on an houly basis and should get better over time

i use a nickel plated steel amp tag with a special crimp tool that rolls the steel over

this type of crimp was sold to me for electric cookers and gives a very secure tight fit on the connector. it is a bare connector that will need a plastic sleeve if you need insulation both crimps and tool made by utilux i get my supplies from empire cookers in manchester

    @ neptune

the mod only involves about 4 wires if you look at the pcb you will see some of the tag join together on the print side of the board . these wires normally are the heavy wires that supply high currents so to keep the high current from going into the board and back out again leading to overhating and burn out join these wires off the board and make 1 wire connection to one of the connectors on the board

    hope this helps

looking on the lux disk this part is obsolete but

also on disk this part is described as

    Device,starting,combo,GL80AA

looking in Qualtex and typing GL80AA

it came up with FP105 a compressor kit 1/5 Hp
if the supply the compreessor they may be able to supply starter

if you look up fridge starters 1/5 Hp in qualtex you get FP06

hope this may help but fridges are not really my line

    Re: Surface Mount Components

this is a bit of a tricky problem. as you rightly say these will be zenner diodes most of the time the voltage is printed on the component but if not i am not sure how to proceed on this route

as a thought and thinking on my feet the next thing i would try is this

    remove the good zenner carefully

make a circuit up with a battery and a resistor to put a small current throught the zenner to push it to its avalanche point and read the voltage with a digital multimeter

i am of course assuming that both zenners are the same

    hope this helps

    Re: Qualtex on line ordering?

one thing i cannot fault is the quality of their technical staff the call centre is helpful and efficient which is good when the ordering system is a mess. I ring them that often i could do with a dedicated line and an invite to their christmas party

i have parts that have not been ordered due to the changeover and the complaints due to that. i have problem administering the new system with the lack of facilities. I hate the new part numbers with qua at the beginning trying to find one part on an invoice when they all begin with Q is time consuming

    @parker
hi phil can you give us updates as to where you are with the system what updates are coming and roughly when. i understand that beta testing can be a problem but i will test anything for you and feed back. you say the trade customers wanted a web based system i am a trade customer and i did not get the chance to express any opinion. I am looking forward to this getting better cause at the mo it cant get much worse

    to all Qualtex customers

As Qualtex are reading this post this is where you need to put your views +ve or -ve about the new system if we dont tell them they will never know

had this fault on many occasions to me is seem like the full power of the machine is going through the connectors and the pcb. when i repair these i joint the cables together off the board so the power bypasses connections

    another case of bad design

just fit a new triac i pinch them off old boards all the time and they are easily available for a few pounds

have found the sensor for this is quite sensitive you may not get a reading on you meter but if you change it it will be ok

it will cost you nothing to try

    Re: Qualtex on line ordering?

well i agree with most comments never have i seen a less well planned change over to a new system. i found out this was happening an hour before i was to place an order that spareslink had been switched off. if this had been a military battle we would have been conquered by now.

I for one will; miss spareslink i used it to the full. we used the multiplier to set retail prices to customers so everybody was quoting the same price. I used the comments box to give stock locations and most of all if we ordered a part for a customer the special ref box gave enough room to put a name, a mobile number, plus price quoted and deposit paid. the new one is only 20 characters and one you have sent it you cannot access it on the website again plus the fact you could search spareslink on the special ref box so if a cust walked in you could search by customers name as most cannot remember what they ordered or it is so vague as to make it difficult to find this facility was very useful recently when a cust walked in and wanted the same paper bags as last time and did not know anything else

it would be interesing to find out who else uses these facilities as according to the rep i was one of a few and if more people want it the will write the code if not hard luck

Re: aeg washing machine zanusie in a skirt ??

Phidom is correct most modern machines use small triacs to power pumps, door locks and valves etc with the current on these components being very low they do not a heat sink and look no more than a black blob on the pcb. they can either be on three legs with a blob on the end or more common these days is to surface mount them directly to the board.

these are easily available for main electronic suppliers or pinch one from an old board thet you have lying around

    hope this helps

    Re: Currys Exchanges

from the stories it seems i am lucky

have a scrapyard over the road if i wanted it they would pay me for the machines but i am glad to get rid of them. have had local men asking me to keep them so they can weigh them in but cant wait or have the storage

will not take friges but local council will pick up all appliances for free but collection takes about 6 weeks

have seen council wagons taking machines to the same scrapyard so thay cant argue with me doing it

    thanks Brian

    assume you mean

Make sure it’s empty before doing this.
Select the first program, normally rinse.
Switch off. Press and hold the start button and switch back on. Light will start to flash, release button. Press the start button and close the door. Machine will now go through a diagnostic by filling, washing, heating and draining. Any errors will be shown by the start button light flashing a code.

will try it next week thanks

we get a lot of pumps failing due to customers putting them away without flushing tubes through with clean water

in insructions it states you should turn dial to water only to flush machine through at the end

agree with above heater gets blocked but will normally still pump through hose if this is the case

if you still get problems repost and i will ask the member of staff who does a lot of these
